I've been trying to find some pics. on here of different scroadster tops, I remember a long time ago when I first started looking on here that there was a guy who I think was out in the southwest somewhere that built a top for his scroadster out of sheetmetal and it seemed very cool back then. Does anyone remember or better yet have pics. saved of it?
Hi. Just a guess from looking at your avatar it likely is a rod where there is no body rearward of the cowl & dashboard - just a floorboard & seat. Back in the day when I was young (1950's) those were called strip downs & later just rat rods. Something like an old style dune buggy. I could be wrong though. Jimmie
A scroadster is a sport coupe turned into a roadster by cutting off all of the roof pieces and door posts.
Can't tell for sure if your asking about a lift off hard top or a folding top? I did a tech on folding tops; https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...top-a-how-too-do-it-tech.857951/#post-9479688 The "V"/ Devall type windshield, the photo has,is tricky to make a header board for=hooking the header board down on it needs some type of clamps or screw in brackets ? vs stock type that have pin at top of post too lock on to. Word trems around the USA may be def. ,but { coupester is used in south east,to say { coupe made in too roadster} most HAMB know that wording as well. As for your avatar, that thing would by most I know be called a "Doodlebug"
Dana, Thanks for the tech. on the top, haven't had time to read it all but looks very informative. As for my avatar I belonged to a Doodlebug club for several years but I always leaned more towards the hot rod side of things so naturally started building a mix of the two hence Doodlrodz.
Q: What's a "ditto"? A: I believe it must be a second scrotum dildo for a back up in case the first one fails.
Says you, Never heard that term before and I doubt you'll find any info searching it. Is that an inside joke because it Sounds too much like scroatum Coupster yep, You're the only Scroadster out there
There's a this week recent, sport coupe build here where the OP states he is working on a folding top, also I think @08racer maybe ( or not ) .... sh#t, I get confused trying to brain sticky the cool stuff found on the HAMB. Obviously I run out of room up there. You build cool sh#t. Ill look for the previous thread. Hope you find what you're looking for. The poor guy below is still waiting and wanting ..... Squiroadster ... an upside down hung gonadal squirrel.
No, it doesn't exist. You can't simply make up words and terms or grab them from the smoke or fog in your brain and then expect everyone else to know what you are talking about. And then also expect them to accept and embrace your delusions. Sorry , it doesn't work that way.
Sorry, didn't make it up it's been used on here for years. The only delusion is thinking you know it all.
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-carson-top.240611/ This one ^^^ ??? It's a fiberglass hard top. Pretty bitchin'. @Doodlrodz https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-cheap-roadster-top.322596/ This one ^^^, the pictures are poof ! BUT .... comments read well. Edit for additional, maybes >>> https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hotrod-folding-top-a-how-too-do-it-tech.857951/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...arson-style-top-for-my-30-a-coupester.633527/ I mined them from the following search, BUT only scooped page 1 .... there is additional reading on pages 2 and 3 >>> https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/search/124361538/?q=Coupester+top&o=relevance&c[node]=5 Have fun sir.
@Doodlrodz the Sport Coupe above pictured posted by @Sancho has an aluminum top done by @Koz. The tops are one of his specialties. The top is actually removable but I have no intention of doing it. Several wing nutted fasteners and a few nuts and bolts. There is several construction pics of it in @HomemadeHardtop57's thread years ago on the building of the coupe. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...oject-for-the-wife.464364/page-2#post-5280922
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/search/124362819/?q="Scroadster"&o=relevance Been used on the Hamb a total of 18 times. 10 of those 18 are this thread. That leaves 8 times. HAMBer kmember apparently coined the term in 07 and the other 8 are mostly his. One other mention. You 3 are the only ones that constitute "being used for years" Delusion is a strong word, It wasn't a coupe with everything cut off rather a pile of parts with all the attraction of a nut sack including the true roadster body.
