Got a few snaps from Tracy today. Looks like it is moving along. I need to take the shifter out to make sure everything will clear the new mount.
A little late based on your last post, but this shop looks like they have a nice option for installing an auto trans: http://morfabcustoms.com/fabricators.php
I've spoken with the Morfab guys and they make a good product. They said it's designed for an IFS car though and wont work with wishbones. Tracy showed me where everything is gonna land and it looks like it is working out well this way. How ever, I think it has reached the "if you give a mouse a cookie" point where I need to make a decision. He mentioned casually that it would be easier to finish weld and fab if the body was off. Tomorrow I need to price out body bushings and talk to the sand blast/powder coat guys.
I won't be able to keep my master under the floor anymore. I didn't want to hang it off the firewall but I am running out of space. The tranny lives where everything else wants to. Also, driver side exhaust is going to be an excercise in tube bending....
My buddy Scott was in town and helped me pull the column and steering box out. We also got all the body bolts out so hopefully we can lift the body off this weekend.
We put a large board through the open doors and had a big strap going to the hoist. We maxed out the chain but it held the body high enough we were able to slide the frame out from under her.
All in all, a pretty good day for just a few hours of work. I was nervous the whole time, worrying the body may sway into the hoist, or the whole thing would come off balance and fall. At the end of the day the only damage was a little fold in one drip rail that should come right out. Big thanks to everyone who helped out today. A little finish welding and it's off to the powder coaters.

What's the plan for replacing the section of the X member that was sacrificed to the transmission Gods?
That's a good question. Tracy had a few patterns drawn up. I don't know that I have the vocabulary to describe them very well, I will definitely be posting more pics. He showed me one pattern for the center X. Basically it's a half circle that will fit the bottom of that X about where the wishbone mounted. He also has a few boxing pieces drawn up. Pics to follow.
Drugasm, If you need a tank and body mounts, I have a new Bob Drake tank and filler neck hose, with hardware. Also have Drakes body mounts (new), no bolts. Let me know. don 208-659-9950.
Boring update today. Just some cleaning up on the frame before it's next steps. I pulled off small brackets and tabs while Scotty worked the wire wheel.
This one bolt took us all by surprise. It was the very center of X. It looked like it has been installed just days before but it's 72 years old. Still just as fresh as the day someone screwed it in on a factory line... crazy.
Spent an hour or two on my back with a wire wheel tonight. Cleaning up floorboards to prep for paint.
