Installed peep mirrors and W/S gl***. Had Eddie Brown pin stripe the dash. Had Leon Brown upholster the seats. The center panel is perferated material. INTERNET AD 003.JPG INTERNET AD 002.JPG INTERNET AD 004.JPG INTERNET AD 001.JPG INTERNET AD 005.JPG

Finally got back on the 27. Building the 23 type turtle deck. Had to make a new template. Threw away the one I had made for the #1 track roadster. I made some new bead roller dies for flanging [ tipping ] the front edge to fit the curved rear body. I used the old #1 MDF hammer form after annealing the rear part of the aluminum. 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 009.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 016.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 015.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 001.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 002.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 003.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 004.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 005.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 006.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 007.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 008.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 013.JPG 23 turtle deck---v-8 60 oil pan 014.JPG

Didn't metal finish the left panel because I was wanting to do the rear panel. Shrinking the flanges was going great until the final tuning and the shrinker would not shrink anymore. Worked on laying out the louvers. 6 PIN--BLUEPRINT 005.JPG Picked up new shrinker jaws this PM.

Looking good, you will get gas welding aluminum down it just takes a little practice, that's what s****s are for. Frank

I'm looking at it and I think that with the turtle deck the rear wheel position is going to look funny.
As in out of place, too far forward like a stub tailed modified.

With the turtle deck I think the rear axle needs to be further back to place the rear wheel in a better spot proportionally so that there isn't so much of the turtle deck hanging out the rear.

Post a direct on side shot for us.

Cool modified! I like the turtle deck and wheelbase.....too long of a wheelbase and it would start to look like a limousine.

Metal finished the turtle deck sides. Finished the rear panel. Made the deck lid. Mounted the Dagmar [ large and pointy ] 1954 Buick Special tail lights. I do the chrome prep work. That way I can polish the parts prior to welding. As far as proportion is concerned I mounted the engine and the body rearward for a "bad ***" race car look, after all I am calling it a track roadster. Okay, so it doesn’t look too bad from the side proportion wise but in all honesty calling it a track roadster is a bit of a stretch :D
    No pun intended.
With the extra space in front of the engine and the front end further out the only track action something like that would see would be a straight line track with no curves.

I’m also wondering about the rather odd looking flat plates next to the turtle deck.
Probably to do with mock up I’m guessing.

Blue One.. I guess I will have to change the ***le to DRAG RACE CAR. For a track car the engine is NOT back far enough and the 108" wheelbase is way too looooong. Here is a good example of a winning circle track car i built way back in 1969. 90" wheelbase. 42" from back of engine to center of rear end. First time out Al Schill scored a clean sweep at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Al went on to win the I R A championship. I R A rules at that time required O E M frame rails and O E M body panels. Get a life mate. The car looks great and if it does not suit your taste build one yourself. Frames is obviously not lacking a clue as evidenced by his other builds and if this is how he wants his car to look so be it.

Yeah, it's an awesome build, like everything I see from Frames. I love his threads, so inspiring, except I could never reach his level of craftsmanship. But I just love seeing him do it.

I used the biggest electric fan my friend Terry could find. I didn't have a piece of .080" aluminum big enough for the mount so I welded 2 pieces together. I stepped the sides 1/4" FAN---ELECTRIC 001.JPG FAN---ELECTRIC 002.JPG FAN---ELECTRIC 003.JPG so the back nuts would clear the core.

The engine is .040" over 8BA with a Schooler 59A cam. I like the crab dist. I still have all the Cadillac parts. Did you see my thread? "I hauled a 32 roadster body home today"
