I built two of them back when they first cam out. found them as basket cases finished them and sold them the frame is glassed to the body and really sucks, sold both got $27000 out of one and my buddy traded the other for a steel roadster. so it all worked out a good beginner car.

my thoughts went something like this: Ha-ha this is going to get savagely roasted on the HAMB ....but then I thought which of your other 5 cars would you be willing to drive from one end of the country to the other with a plane ticket in your pocket in case something catastrophic happened? you wouldn't want to leave any of them behind but this one....who cares? like do route 66 or 24 hours of Lemons or some silly thing you can't do with a steel car...even funnier yet do it on vege-diesel or hydrogen or alcohol with a sweet flamed paint job and a little write up about the alternate fuel painted on it.....why? because it might inspire some of the younger crowd....shit maybe that childhood Evel Knievel dream of jumping 6 buses can finally come true...ok ok woah they told me this was a "french cigarette" i'm putting it down now:p;)

  6. I think I'd go with a Speedway 'glass 34 grille and primer it...go with a sbc, do a bonded title and drive it 'till somebody offered me $$$ for it.

Shit Beast buyers are few and far between. The only buyers will be a newbie who doesn't know they don't even resemble a 34 Ford. Not into Fugly replicas. I wouldn't waste my time or money building one. Too much of a gamble for something you may not be able to give away. Same goes for Coast to Coast cars they call a 36 Ford and that fiberglass abomination they call a 39 Studebaker pickup. Neither one looks even close to the car's they are supposed to replicate. I believe old cars are supposed to look like old cars and not a fiberglass rocket ship.

I say the only person you need to worry about is yourself. It doesn't really matter what others think. You decide what you want to do with it. If you want to scavenge parts and dump the rest that is cool. If you want to sort out the paperwork and build it for something to drive... that's cool too! Just do what feels right for you and everyone else can just...well you know.
Funny I saw another thread on the H.A.M.B. where a lot of people are giving kudos to a 32 glass Ford but here you are catching a bunch of crap for this 34 glass Ford. (Ya I know it's a different manufacturer but really - I don't care) Like I said you really only need to make one person happy and the rest can pound sand.

  10. Hey Mike,
    But ya gotta give credit.
    ZZ Top actually helped jump-start
    what we do today!
There was that fuzzy time in the late '80s early '90s
when even the originators were running a lot
of plastic! I'm pretty sure this car is a Street Beast!
And their shirts are kinda funky too!
It gets tougher all the time to be an innovator,
    not an imitator!

  11. But also, Billy kinda found his way back!

I always liked "Cadzilla" and I'm not into customs; more of a tail dragger guy.

  15. When I need inspiration I always look at this shot.
I haven't got the foggiest where this shot came from,
but I know for sure, this guy "got it." A Hot Rodder
    before it had a name!
    Even back in the '40s!

Well i got it home and taken apart. I really dont know that i could trust that frame. But i suppose other people have. I really like the Giant go kart idea. But it will probably just be yard art for the kid to play on. Or cut into wall hangers.

  19. There are clones of it, or were anyway. The clones are indeed glass.

Well, fiberglass is plastic. FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) and in this case the fibers are glass. Although other fibers could be used in a product that is called fiberglass.
