Anyone know for certain if there's an indoor car show in Wichita, Kansas, the weekend of Jan. 19-21...??? Looking for info... Thanx, R-
Though locals will probably refer to it as The Starbird Show for the next 20 years even if Darryl is no longer involved.
It's a great show but I sent my entry in too late apparently. I got a call a couple of weeks ago to tell me they were full. I'm sad about that as I always enjoy visiting with people I only see there. Oh well. Send your entry in early next year!
Show is better this year. A good number of Hamb Friendly cars. Some really nice customs as well as Traditional builds. First time in years I have went. Well worth the price of admission. Walter
They also moved the swap meet that was north of Wichita to the century II this year and changed the date from the first weekend of feb to I think it is Friday and Saturday of march 19 weekend. I guess someone else has took it over and renamed it----Someone here will know more than me. I always go about the only one close to me here in Ks.
It's been run by the current people for at least a couple years now. I believe the new owners of the Coliseum have tenants in the buildings where the swap used to be. Last year it was split between part of the Coliseum and Hartmann Arena. The Coliseum is not an option at all anymore... When they decided to have it at Century II they wanted the same dates but Century II was booked. It's my understanding they got the first full weekend they could.
My car club is supposed to have a booth there, but we have yet to get any new info from them. Hopefully soon...
I don't mind the date moving to later, we used to set up there. You never knew what the weather would be- seen blizzard conditions-and other times t-shirts. Maybe march will be better, but in Kansas there are no guarantees. Had a lot of good times there.
You're welcome! Is it yours? Beautiful car and appears from as close as I could get to be perfect! Please tell us about it?
yes it is mine. Most of the build is on one of my Threads (Its Alive Engine Start Up) 8ba, 39 box, Zephyr gears, 36 rear, 32 cross member, 32 pedals, 33 ft.axle, built with early Ford parts, as correct as I could with fasteners, real Ford sheet metal, 9 year home built, drive way painted hot rod.
Whew! It's a beauty! I saw it a couple of years ago at The All Ford Day show and was blown away! You do great work! Hope to see you around with it this summer. I'd love to talk with you about it sometime. In the mean time I'll look up the build post. Thanks Walter!
