Donna & @Roger Garcia (in period costume) pose with their '38 Chevy during Saturday's "Rags And Rods On Parade"
Dino (@fremont32) Ramacciotti drives his Deuce Roadster through the course ... while his passenger (Larry Westervelt) mans the broom during Saturday's "Street Sweeper" competition
As I mentioned in post #20, @Tom Branch maintains his father Bill Branch’s photo archive of ‘70s Street Rodding events ... including several from the '73, '74, & '75 LODI Mini Nationals. Tom has graciously allowed me to share these pics with the H.A.M.B. community ... so here are some images that I'm almost positive were shot at LODI '74. First up is a photo of two Bay Area Roadsters cars ... Dick Mendonca’s '28 RPU & Dennis Varni's '29 Hiboy: LODI '74 image from the Tom Branch "Street Is Neat" Collection
Rich "Pure Hell" Guasco's (purple, '61 AMBR) '29 Hiboy parked next to his good friend Bill Burnham's (butterscotch yellow, 321ci Pontiac powered) '29 Hiboy: LODI '74 image from the Tom Branch "Street Is Neat" Collection
Nor~Cal Early Iron club member, Bob (@bobs36hotrod) Swartz' blown SBC powered '29 Roadster: LODI '74 image from the Tom Branch "Street Is Neat" Collection
A wild, drag inspired, extended wheelbase T-bucket going through Saturday's "Street Rod Inspection" (conducted by the CHP): LODI '74 image from the Tom Branch "Street Is Neat" Collection

I know it was asked on the '74 Street Rod Nats thread, regarding what ever happened to all the tourings/phaetons, and buckets. I'm also wondering what ever happened to all the widened Kelseys?
This car was built and owned by" Fat Jack Robinson" in the early '70's. When the photo was taken, it was and still is owned by Al Laprinchini.
That sedan belonged to my dad. He sold it years ago but has another one nearly identical today. His name is Wayne Miller.
This thread is very cool. Thanks so much to Hemi 32 for it's insepsion. This stuff set the hook for me personaly. Lookin' forward to more.
Just curious,, is that yellow 29 roadster that belonged to Bill Burnham the same one that he put an FE into and painted blue? Great pics and thankyou
Nope ... the (Poncho-powered) butterscotch yellow ‘29 Hiboy is the predecessor of Billy B’s (FE-powered) “Ol Blue” ‘29 Hiboy. Here's a couple of circa 1973 pics of our Deuce 5wd Coupe & Billy's yellow '29 Hiboy: This staged "1950s Filling Station" photo was taken at a gas station on Main St. in Pleasanton, California. That's our Coupe on the left, Bill Burnham's butterscotch yellow '29 Hiboy in the center, and Clark Kibler's silver '29 Hiboy on the right. The "hoodlum's" are Kibler (l), Gary Meadors (c), & Billy B (r). This staged "1950s drag race" photo featured our 331ci HEMI powered '32 5wd Coupe up against Burnham's 321ci Pontiac powered '29 Hiboy. ... and here's a photo of Billy B's butterscotch '29 (now owned by @V8RPU) parked next to his "Ol Blue" '29 at the 2017 Goodguys West Coast Nats: image by @Michaelcozman I sure do miss my Dad, Billy, & Gary!
This poster was in a grocery store at the '77 Nationals. I was 14 at the time and asked the clerk if I could have it. He said yes but not until Sunday of the event. My dad (Wayne Miller) is fond of it because at the time Coors beer was not sold in WA state -- I remember it being a big deal to be able to buy Coors in California!
D'oh! ... How did I not recognize my buddy Dick Eaton? ... I totally forgot he & Karen were originally from Georgia.
My Dad's 40 Chevy in the background. Pretty sure this is when Pat Ganahl was shooting it for a feature in Street Rodder magazine. It was in the Dec. 74 issue.
I was 12 years old in 1973, and this style really drew me in too. Great looking rides, with paint, yes indeed. Also the same time in my life I decided I wanted to be a bodyman. More please!
I remember Lodi and Merced, recognize a lotta of Washington State cars in the background, AND a lotta of the pictures have REALLY nice looking ladies in the background, I really miss THAT at the shows now days........ Thanks for the mammeries er, memories. er, whatever....
