I'd think if a guy from a different area wanted it enough coming up with a set of rollers that fit the car and held air wouldn't be a big issue even at a distance. A call to a wrecking yard or tire store within a few miles of where the car is can probably get them delivered and installed.

Copart is a pain in the butt as far as things like looking at the car in person. You need to be a member to get in or pay $20 to look at it. Also there is no working on the vehicle on their lot. Strictly enforced! They load all cars with a forklift in loading area. You can't just back up to it with your hauler and load it. They also charge you $60 to load it. $30 for the privilege of bidding on the internet (only way you can bid, no live auction) Then there are buyers fees.

Nice car, it's a shame they did this to the ignition switch...

Got one back in 1984.... No regi...we massaged that with fiberglass resin mesh..had some rust...bondo. Lots of bondo...learned a lot about rust....55s are cool...lots of other cool cars out there...best design ever in the 50s. For plain Jane ...love the head light brows

Still no sale date but slowly climbing up to $9700 now.

Wasn't going to refresh this seeing it dropped back but wanted to mention that the Copart in Ca. has a 55 bel air with front end damage that has gone up to $10700 and a 56 wagon that is burned with no bids both ending in a couple of days on 1-24.

  11. That is tempting, if I already didn't have too many project, I'd bid. That Coparts is less than 1000' from my place.

I used to buy at copart but prices have skyrocketed and copart fees are crazy. alot of the classic cars have a reserve. Alot of them classic cars are put in the auction by private parties hoping a internet buyer buys it without looking in person. Everything looks good in photos from copart.

As I see a lot of HAMBers are interested in this type of sales format. I direct you to "Cranky Ape " website . They also sell insurance cars and also some dealer and private party . I have bought from them several years ago and they were easy to work with ,not a lot of extra fees ect. The great part is the auctions end every Wednesday. The bad part is they have just a few hot rod /classic stuff. Check it out ,it doesn't cost nothing to look and it changes every week.

"They load all cars with a forklift in loading area."

So what happens if they do typical forklift damage to it after you've bought it?

I thought this car looked a lot like a car I saved pics of a few years back when I saw it for sale.
I thought it had the perfect stance and rear wheel radius. Used it as my screen saver pic for a long time. Appears to the same car! 551.jpg

Coparts terms and conditions state that they are not responsible for damages. They are selling junk.
All that stuff is well spelled out if you read the terms when you sign up.
You have to remember they are dealing with insurance companies and have learned well, how to take your money and only give you the service they say they will give you not the service you thought you would get.

Wow! What's going on with that? Tri five prices in California are crazy for stripped and rusty shells.

Contrary to popular California belief, what happens there or what is happening there is not indicative of how things are or will be in the rest of the known world :D

tri fives are losing interest, i bought at the wrong time, if i had waited about 6 more months i could have afforded a 2 door sedan roller for about 4500. there are a few of them on local CL that have really weird prices, 4 door hardtop with a 283 that apparently ran last yr for $2,000. sucks i have no room and am all outta money for big purchases.

Sells in the morning, Hope it goes to someone who normally couldnt afford one and wants it to keep.

  29. That stripped hull isn't worth 10 grand. Not even if it was dipped in gold. Copart sucks.
