OK, just to offset my humorous criticism, I gotta imagine pulling that Weber injection setup out of the box had to be pretty damned exciting, I was pretty jazzed for you myself.

Don't wait until the last to mount your rack like I did when I used the narrowed Fatman rack and their front crossmember and a small block Ford in my last Morris Minor. I ended up pulling the motor and building a tunnel in the oil pan for the steering shaft to hook up and that is after I used three swivel joints. Just a word of warning . The narrowed Fatman rack puts the steering shaft almost in the middle of the rack, at least it did on mine. DSCF0955.JPG

Yep we are good. The notch there in the cross member is where the steering input fits. Plus the motor is set way back etc.

They didn't do that when I bought mine and the steering shaft was almost dead center. So they must have redesigned it when they narrow it.

You can bet you will see me at the track in April. Now whether the pile of parts shows up is a completely different question! LOL

Ok so I somehow lost the subscription to this thread I've been wondering if you have been doin anything or not and when I seen the post on the induction thread I had to resubscribe stupid technology lol anyhow one thing that might help you in setting up your front end at ride height is to take some tubing and weld long pieces of 5/8 all thread to them and put them in place of the shocks then you can adjust them as needed. you will want your lower a frame to set level at ride height I use these for mock up when installing a mustang front end mine look like a T and use the lower shock mount bolt then run the all thread though the a arm hat where the shock goes yours will need to be a bit different than mine as your front end is made different than a normal mustang front end if you have any questions I'm only a phone call away lol. And by the way this thing better be way faster than a 10 sec 1/4 if you think you have a chance in hell of outrunning the digger now lmao

  18. wondering here ???
What your front track width will build out to with a 24" wide frame?

Normally it's 56" track width, 28 ish frame and stock length M2 arms and rack and lower control arm pivots at 21-21" apart.
Seems that would out very nice in a 67" body with skinny front runners.

Well, Fat Man Fab completely fabricated this front end based on the track width I supplied them, including
narrowing the rack etc. The slab side car is 61" outer front flare to outer front flare so I used that as my
outside number. And looking at photos of real DragonSnakes their front tires are right on that mark if not
cheated a bit outside (sidewall only speaking).

So I took 61" minus my (front wheel width minus backspace) 5.5" rims with 2" backspace is 3.5".
    So I took 61" minus 3.5" x 2 for both sides etc.
    So I took 61" minus 7" minus the wheel adapters for the knock off kit 3/8" or .375 x 2 = .75"
So I took 61" minus 7.75" and got 53.25" official track width and I had them engineer the front end for 53" even.

What they sent me surprised me a bit as thought they were sending a stand alone one piece front end with no frame cut out etc. (engineered for 53" track width). But apparently they couldn't do that. Possibly the upper "A" arm/shock brackets are already notched etc. What ever the reason,"they" fabricated a custom 24" wide cross member etc. to do the job. When we had the one side of the front end assembled I took a rough measurement from the center of the cross member to the rear bearing race on the spindle. It was round 23" so I figure it is close if not dead on for 53" mounting surface to mounting surface after the rotors are in place.

The 24" frame idea just happened as that is what the front end basically came set up for with the notched upper brackets etc. When we got to the steel yard Saturday (even after talking with them several times over the past week about my round tube, I find they do not stock any of it. All special order. NICE. So that is when Dad and I wandered back over to the steel samples wall and decided what the hell, the front end is set up for 2x3 rectangular tubing, lets just go with the flow.

So instead of taking their parts and welding up a solid stand alone front end piece and then figuring out how to mount our narrow round chassis to it, we just got the rectangular stuff and built it the way the front end was engineered. Now I do know spindles, rotors and calipers etc. are all Granada but the "A" arms are custom for our track width.

Well there is always the chance the digger will just bounce up and down and not go anywhere (no wait that is me). Well maybe the driveshaft will fall out of it (no wait it doesn't have one)...damn. .....Help me James what are we waiting for to fall off of Jackson's car so we have a shot at it now! LMAO!

So you are saying go last on the burn out and then do about half track, pretend to struggle getting it in reverse for a bit, then slowly back all the way back. Do a couple of good dry hops and then stage against him?!!! LOL

This is the point in the build that is a combination of nail biting and excilleration.
    Love this kind of stuff!

Jackson's extra power may have all 4 wheels even higher off the track this year, (causing slick Cavitation) lol
Might come off the line like a Dolphin, hurting the 60 ft time. :D

Well running out of fuel is a good possibility as it is a thirsty bitch but you know how it is with alcoholics they like a lot of it lol my hope is to have enough power to smoke the tires cause I've never been able to lol that was the goal all along lol enough about my pile let's get back to yours lol there is a good chance I might swing by the snake pit tomorrow and check it out in person lol

Not a lot to report this weekend. We finished up the rails on the chassis including the rear "Z" area. I went to upload some photos but everyone of them is blurry beyond use. [emoji13]

I would go back and take some more but it is 17 degrees and snowing....plus the Justin Timberlake Superbowl halftime show is on. LMAO!

The only shot I got was weld bead close up for James.

I just got a call that my Holman Moody Gauges are shipping out today. While I had them on the phone, I asked about patches for my race suite and found they still offered the same ones from 1964. Above, not to scale or anything are both patches a smaller one to put on the upper chest area and a larger one that they put on the back of the pit team shirts etc.
