Expecting a high of 52 degrees today in the Florida Pan Handle but looking forward to highs in the low seventies Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Back in Kentucky its single digits.

  6. Having lived in both places I'm not so sure that New England living is anything to laugh about. While I will admit that in southern Michigan it bets VERY cold here(mostly in late January and early February)for weeks at a time, the New England weather can be just as fierce.
My son still lives there in Lowell(about 30 miles north of Boston)and two years ago they recorded an official snow fall of over 12 feet of snow! I talked to him yesterday and he said they had about 10-12 inches;bitter cold(near or below zero)and 35-45mph winds.
When I lived in Massachusetts(Salem)it was right on the coast and the storms coming up the coast could be absolutely ferocious. I have seen several of them that had hurricane force winds that made it look like the snow was coming down sideways. Had one storm where we got a dusting of sleet and 5 miles inland there was 18inches of snow! Twenty miles away there was two feet!

I grew up in New England many years ago and have lived in the Midwest for as many years......

    You missed my point.

In the Midwest and upper western states, winter storms here are not a major part of the national news,
like they are in New England.

When a snow storm hits New England it's bad. ( bad- major- cataclysmic ) as all the major national TV stations report.
The Sky is falling....The Sky is falling.......Yea it's called snow. It's winter.

    That's what people laugh about.

    Here It's normal - 6'',12", 2 feet...... it's winter.
Every day that ends in "Y"

Here on the wet coast of Canada we don't get that much snow. Last year was a little different because we got our fair share but nothing like the east coast gets. But same BS in the media. Check your calendars, we're not even a month into winter. Sometimes around here frost on the ground gets driver's doing 20 kmh which is just as bad a hazard. The sad thing for me in regards to snow is that I retire tomorrow after 38 years of teaching so no more snow days.

  11. Not only the snow in NE, which can be dealt with but it's also the wind and frigid temps. Then this last storm hitting at high tide pushing water thru the streets flooding buildings and cars. Then freezing them in and more snow and frigid temps. Thats what is different than the midwest .

I grew up on the water in NE so yes, the on the water folks it's a issue and I've dealt with it.
I don't wish that on anyone.

You fellas are missing my point........

Major National News TV......Snow storm with up to a foot of snow to hit New England with high winds, cold temps, high tides. ( cataclysmic event ) with Wall to wall coverage.

Snow storm with up to a foot of snow to hit Fargo, ND with high winds, cold temps, blowing and drifting snow.
    Major National News TV......... crickets

That's what people in the Midwest - Upper Midwest laugh about.... a big FN New England Event.

Here.....Yep a NORMAL Midwest winter storm.
    Uuuuuuu Big NE snow storm......
Here - laugh.... yawn....pour a glass of smooth on the rocks.
    Have a nice day.

  13. Yes I guess I did miss your point.Hadn't had my first cup of coffee when I wrote that. The national news media has become something of a joke anyway and I am going no further with that statement as I don't want it to turn political.

15 inches here in Jackson N.J.

  16. you are absolutely correct but i think it is because of the number of people effected. where i sit here in ct i am a 4hr drive in any direction to over 1/3 of the population. Fargo N.D. your six hr drive in any direction for 9 farmers, 38 skiers, a small army of hunters and some Packer fans....:D;)

Can't wait for spring in the Seattle Tacoma area, The rain will get warmer. The only good thing about the amount of rain we have is you don't have to shovel it.

This seems like the coldest winter ever in the Florida Pan Handle. It just won't warm up.
