Yes, I know it has been done a zillion times before But are there some motor mounts that are better than others? SBC with a 5 speed, 9 inch Ford, nothing special. Bob DSCF7034.JPG

  2. If style and ease of fabrication is important that I like a Hurst Mount. It does require a mid mount of some sort (ears off the back of the block/bell area) but they can be simple too.

If I am using side mounts I like the ones used on '68 Camaro. They are cheap and easy to use unless you have steering box interference.

I usually make my own and use an existing hole to bolt it on

Rich B. nice looking install, where did you get the lower hose? it really fits well with the Hurst mount. I could use one on my 40 PU.

    Hurst mount is traditional
We took ours out in1985 after 25 years of it being there.
I have the ch***is engineering ones now and I like them
    Both will work

If you use some of those SP-150 U-shaped gizs, Jeep mounts, a pump that you can clock the bowl, along with a little grinding; you can make it all fit. Functional; but not real clean looking.

You would have to notch the front cross member for pump clearance.

  17. CE had the best biscuits,
The other metal parts are pretty straight forward and hard to mess up.

I've always wondered what they were or the real application.

rich B those u shaped saddles are copies of the 40 merc mounts I've used those to mount a 59ab in a 33 frame. what i'm asking if you look at those pictures you posted of that hurst mount theres a block off plate bolted on the motor obviously a electric fuel pump is used.has anybody modified the hurst mount to make room for a mechanical pump

Yep !! I put 1 plus inch long spacers between the block and Hurst mount. Then you will need to remove part of the Horizontal part of the mount for the radiator hose to clear. The spacers were probably not the smartest thing I did ,but never had a problem. You can also use a 230 6 cylinder fuel pump which is smaller.Later Bill

Piece of 3/8" steel like that is pretty tough, can't imagine it not holding up.

From my experience, a mount that uses the early Ford biscuit sends engine vibration into the car. I like to use a mount that uses stock Chevy mounts. I've built my own and Pete and Jake's in a 40 Ford. The Pete and Jake's bolted right in.

Hi nice set up with the hurst mount. Did you have to use a mid mount too? If so any pics of it? I am building a 40 coupe with hurst mount and TH350 and am concerned about cracking the trans bell housing. Cheers.

That one used the original '40 side shift trans and rear, stock rear trans mount cushions.
