I have a builder waiting to make it roar!

  2. Are you still looking into investors? I am interested and excited in your progress. I must have missed your facebook link.

I actually have a "personal" aluminum foundry in St. Louis, made from old commercial equipment, that I never get to work with since I am living in Los Angeles as a design engineer. I've been considering getting a 3D printer at home in LA to build patterns so I can use my time more efficiently back in Missouri.

I have one investor. We have iron furnaces purchased (2 melt boxes and an Inductothern power supply. I am looking into a couple of gas-fired for aluminum right now. I'm working out details on the property for it all right now. This operation will surely grow beyond just our own needs. Foundries in my area are a joke. If someone can step up and produce work will be abundant.

The first batch of 5 main cores arrived Friday. Looking forward to getting these cast for the first buyers.

Everything I make is already sold. All the foundries around me have fallen on their faces so I have to set up and do it myself. How pathetic is that?

Not good Tod, but at-least by doing it yourself, you know the job will get done correctly.

Some good news. The sleeves I ordered from Darton for the 2 aluminum blocks I have in the shop are on the way!! Can't wait to get these 2 blocks finished for waiting customers. I have several regular and 5 main blocks to cast also. Looks like the new year will start off pretty busy. The OHV heads are almost ready to cast, too.

Tod thank you again for your hard work an dedication to these projects. Recently read the Ford Barn thread about the work you're doing on an 8BA block. I'd like to apologize for the Barn folks who didn't take you seriously. I hope work will progress on the new V8 project as time allows and when you are ready to take names for one let us know here, I'll be more than interested.

I am starting to cut the tooling for the 8BA right now. Lots of stuff pushed my schedule back but, Lord willing, I will get there. I am hoping to cast a few OHV heads in the next month or so. Here is the new B head with a second coat of paint. Yes, it took me that long just to get time to do that since I put the first coat on.

I have a pretty large aluminum furnace I would like to sell if you still need one, or anyone for that matter.

Tod, I read over on the Barn yesterday that you were wanting to find out how many of us are wanting a new 8BA block.

Please include me on that list. Can't (but will) wait to see what your cooking.

It's a Campbell-Hausfield brand. Before they became renowned for air compressors, they made foundry equipment. I'll get some dimensions for you. It was originally diesel fueled and only taken out of service about 4 years ago. I intended to convert it to natural gas or propane powered which is an easy conversion.

The furnace stands 34" tall and is 3 feet in diameter externally. On the inside, the depth is 24" and the ID of the opening is 20". It does have a lid that rotates in and out of the way to remove the crucible. The crucible almost fills the entire open cavity of the furnace and is included. It is originally diesel fueled with a pump and injector and has a blower to increase or decrease the furnace temp. Both of those are included and electric. A 200 gal. fuel tank is also included. This unit was under power in a working foundry and operating up to the day the power was disconnected and loaded on my trailer. PM sent to 427designer! Thanks.

The B head water jacket is almost ready to be made. Sample castings will be next step.

If you have already said multiple times in this thread or others I apologize but what software do you you to model the heads including water jackets, ports etc?
