Hot Rods Chevy rear seat question.

Getting my 1951 Chevy Styleline Coupe upholstered. The rear seat back has 2 3-4" loops that extend below the corner frame work. When I put the rear back and bottom frames in, the loops extend into the springs of the bottom seat. Is this correct? Does it somehow interlock the back and bottom seats? Do I put the bottom in first then hang the back? I know the upholster will ask these questions tomorrow when he starts working on them. Thanks for your help

 

There should be a tab on the body that goes through those loops, then fold over. The bottom goes in last

 

Thanks. So those loops front get covered and go in slots on the sid of the bottom?

 

No the loops hang open, there are or were tabs or bolt holes in the body to hold the bottom of the backrest against the car. The cushion {bottom seat} is a separate piece , the two do not attach to each other.

 

So I would compress the springs so the loops are against the body and then I secure them down. After back is in I slide bottom on, push back until bottom cushion loops drop into floor pockets and I'm good, right?

 

Thanks a lot. The seats I had were the wrong ones. I bought another set of spring frames and wanted to be sure they were right. I really appreciate the help

The Tabs usually break off easily. I through-bolted mine, with a lock washer and nut in the wheel well.
