  3. I think the 41's are underappreciated. That's good if you are buying. They make good cars with a simple lowering, skirts and some nice wheels or hubcaps.

The Camaro clip might be a bit wide, but could be OK with skinny wheels and tires. Being drum brake, it is likely the first gen rear steer subframe. All second gen are disc brakes. Drop spindles will be disc brakes, but that is OK. Just a little better braking, and some extra parts to buy. I agree 3-inch blocks in the rear is about the limit.

Thanks everyone for all your input. Time to hit the hay and in the morning I'm off. Hoping for success and a fair deal can be reached. I'll check in late tomorrow with some updates. Cheers.

As I suspected, the owner builder wasn't the best body man but the body is rock solid. The floors have been replaced and we're done by someone with mig skills. The paint is very thick enamel, orange paled and bug infested. The interior is just fine for now.
the 305 beats strong. The entire underside is as if it's not moved since being built. Clean.
In the deal I took the 2004 crate motor and he'll be flat decking it to me. The entire package for $3500 less than he was asking for the car alone. No Dickering or low balling, I just asked what his magic price was and said I'd do it if he threw in the motor and transport.

Now, a week to get ready to play. Guess I'll turn this into a build thread now.

  15. Wow...sounds like you made a brother-in-law deal. I like my 41s as mild customs. This old 41 Pontiac [series 25] has the chevy body. Thought I'd toss a photo of what the 48 Pontiac tailights look like on these cars. 41custom.jpg 41whitewheels3-4rear.jpg

Rocky, I do like those taillights. Round goes so cleanly with those lines. And rather than frenched, much better.

One glaring ugly I forgot to mention is the fellow stuffed a huge, oversized rad in it that hangs out the bottom requiring some nasty protective angle iron. That's gotta go real quick.

Question of the day; What are you running for a rad and what's it out of?

I went with round because of head lights parking and taillights I used led. They are bright at night. [IMG]

I built most of one for a friend. I say most because he had already had it painted and the motor installed before that shop gave up on it because they didn't have room for a fan and hadn't moved the firewall back. It all turned out good though !!

Here's a little different take on how to do a '41. It may not be appreciated by everyone, but I like it! 41.jpg

I like how you didn't over stuff them. if I did them I'd set them in just deep enough to french the ring. im starting to learn towards frenching something on the fenders themselves that would be visible from the side. not Cadillac bullets... so tired of them

Got out a stack of oldies to finger through.
I wonder if you can still get a Whitney catalog for a dime and self addressed stamped envelope. ;)

I’ve seen some side marker lights that are big enough to work as signal and brakes. I will look. Smooth bumperetts with red lens I was working on a set.
