Just noticed the display sign says John D'Augustino. Didn't know that he bought the clone from Jack Walker, but I do now that I read about it on Custom Car Chronicle. (note to self, I gotta get out more)

  5. Just reiterating what @'Mo was saying... Seems of late that when someone is talking about a pancaked hood they are actually talking about one that has been sectioned (to remove some height).
I have always thought a pancaked hood was like the one I posted (and the 2 'Mo posted), when the hood is welded to the fenders and a new flat hood is cut out of the center. The resulting hood is usually considerably smaller and I always thought it must make underhood work a real pain.

I don't like to recycle the "same ol' same ol'", but these two just float my boat.

The "Mountain Pearl" was the first color feature car in HRM, in 1962.
(I doubt that you can imagine the impact of that, given the time.)

Around the same time, this Chevy hit print (albeit in print-green.).

The Lincoln quad lights and '58 Ford mesh w/bullets grille seared like a tattoo, and for a lifetime helped to define custom aesthetics.

    Did I say "Two"?

Although the quad lights were not Lincoln, Ray Farhner's "Eclipse" used the same '58 Ford mesh/'59 Caddy bullet grille combo as seen on the Chevy.

Every model car kit I ever built probably had to be, in some respect, a failed attempt to recreate this look!

Thanks for the clarification. I have always thought the term "pancake" had a self-explanatory meaning! Like when a big Offensive lineman pancaked a defensive end, or a rushing linebacker: he flattened him, took him to ground level, pancaked him!
