  4. I always get that El Camino above and Cushenberry’s car mixed up. Every time I see that Elky in primer I think to myself “I sure liked that red fade paint job it had” which of course is the Exodus’ paint job. LOL

@rudestude do you have a pic of the cover of that book? I can’t believe there is a custom book I don’t have. LOL. I’ll be hunting that one down. [emoji16]

    I'm allover that!
Were you aware of his idea to open up the gun-sights (and flipping them, for a concave entry)?
    Antennae were also mentioned.
Personally, I think a rearward lean to the leading edge would bring this off nicely.

Thanks Sancho for taking care of that......that book has been a great book over the years it's got a lot of good info on paint and painting in it also different techniques and explanations of paints and style's of course it's dated now but there's a lot of it's info that will never die .....

Any one do it like this any more? In my way early day's I had got a real nice 54 Ford , 312 Thunderbird and a 3 SPD. , I of course dropped the nose added duel exhaust w/cherry bomb's then decided needed something else..so I called my friend ,old body man that sold me a 46 2dr "Torpedo" Buick when I was 16,and ask if I brought it up to his place this weekend could he help me nose and deck it he said sure...hey and bring some metal coat hangers...what...OK... I get to his place with my car and two hangers he tells me to pull the ornaments off and go down to the barn and get some bailing wire....what.. I did and finally ask what the deal is with the hangers and wire....he says you want me to show how to nose and deck your car right....yes...well I'm going to learn you how the way I was learnt....that's the way he talked...so I welded all the holes up with oxy and hangers and bailing wire for rod ...he says thats the way I did it on the Merc ,he got a really Kool chopped Merc I used to Barrow it years back he still owns it hasn't had it out in 20 years ,it all turned out great as I was finishing up a buddy of his rides up on nice Harley chopper he checking out the car See's my hood ornament laying there say's hey dude how much for the bird...what...your bird...Roger says your hood ornament...biker say's give you ten bucks then says hey kid you smoke...what...no..OK cool dude...then he grabbed a drill put some holes in his front fender and mounted the "bird" what you think kid....kooool....then he says man you welded that all up using coat hangers.....yep...then he says hey Roger what's up you couldn't even let the kid use your new wire feed welder....WHAT.....that's the way I learnt to nose and deck a car....a couple weekends later I took it to a guy and had a couple hundred louvers punched in the hood .....Kool...[IMG][IMG]
