An AC Mack with the Blitzen Benz-can't get much better than that. Wonder what the inside story of the photo was all about? 29695313_407550906376035_7681579876586663880_n.jpg

Evidently, they want to get to the track in the slowest possible time. Chain drive trucks of the day were... sloths. Gary

job-4.jpg AC in hole-1938.jpg Gary, I grew up with some AC Macks that my grandfather saved. My grandfather worked for the auto plants (Packard and Chalmers) but left to go into the trucking business on Armistice day in 1918. He excavated a decent portion of downtown Detroit. When I discussed the old trucks with him he said the biggest headache would be from the residents in downtown Detroit that would complain that the trucks would vibrate everything so much in their houses that stuff would fall out of cupboards and shelves etc. Not only chain drive but solid rubber tires with little in the way of springs. I always liked the look of the AC Macks.

Here are a couple pictures of his trucks.
