It's pretty common in Canada too and its original meaning is a bit more nefarious than that....usually used with a wink when a child got out of bed just as Mum was "entertaining" a new "guest" ....."ok here's your glass of water go back to bed oh and Bob's your uncle" wink wink nudge nudge a "white lie" but now it's more commonly used sort of like "and there you are/go" at the end of a list of instructions or series of steps
