  1. They don't bother me on kustoms. Like at all. But when certain people play the a-la cart card, it's weak AF.

Like the idea of a new forum for "Traditionally Inspired".
Long as its body from 65 or older and say 90% of the project is from a certain cut of date.
This would retain talented guys who may of used a MII for what ever reason whilst cutting out full ch***is swaps.

I don’t normally get involved in the ******** but.... how about all the whiny ****ers go start their own forum and post whatever the **** you want there. I will say thanks to Ryan and staff for the hard work they do and for putting up with the ***holes that try to tell Ryan how he should run his forum.

I'm for that, so long as the ******** of restoring an old truck and calling it a traditional hod rod stops.

  15. But, traditionally , it WAS. And not always Fords. In the "sticks" of Missouri where/when I grew up a lot of Chevys happened. And a LOT of what we call hotrods today would have been called custom or street rods.

Before this thread implodes, I just want to thank Ryan and the mods for making this the best hotrod site on the web. I'm here every day. Please don't change the focus of the hamb....it works fine as is.

  17. I didn't read every post but just to clarify....
Jaguar used the independent rear starting in
1961. It also used torsion bars in front 1961.
Just like Chrysler did in 1957!
Oh, and just remembered, my 1956 Packard
had torsion bars front and rear!
    Ain't history great?

Don’t know why I’m bothering, but I agree. There are lots of other sites that won’t filter the content as closely as is done on the HAMB.
So, if you don’t wanna play Ryans game, post elsewhere.
I’m having a hard time figuring out why this is so hard to understand...

You nailed it! In 1957 you could buy a running Model A off a used car lot for $50 and gas was 29 cents a gallon.

  20. Not sure why the IFS or Mustang II deal is so hard to figure out. They came out in 1974. Shortly thereafter, the street rod industry began marketing kits. Next came the fabbed A arms, and then the slightly larger AMC version.
They are a 70's street rod item.
If you have one already, don't post pictures of it, or talk about it here. You'll be fine.
Same deal on later model sub-frame grafts.
Thank you , Ryan and crew

I think gas was less than that in 57. In the late 60's, early 70's, we used to be able to fill a 1 gallon gas can to use in Briggs & Stratton powered mini bikes and home built go carts for a quarter.

I totally agree that the Traditional Section is just that! CORRECT!
And I'm really stoked that there some flexibility in other sections...
Where Hot Rodding comes from is where we learn and explore (this is an amazing place with lots of knowledge)
Some Guys didn't read the rules B4 they posted but their still our buddies...?
    What If?
Instead of DELETING the Inappropriate posts in the Traditional Forums...
Would it be possible to Move them to the General HAMB?...

(I used to run a Mopar Club Website - Not as advanced as HAMB but Mopar Guys are the most Hard Core there is!)
    I'm a recovering Mopar Guy...

I like it the way is. Rules are rules. I will say there seams to be a lot of lame posts lately.

Love this place.. Just a suggestion, how about a sticky thread that the mods can move any non traditional thread and or pictures to with a simple explanation of why, ie failed the billet wheel test... We would all learn and benefit...

    Thanks again...

I'm guilty of posting build threads regularly of suspension methods on old trucks evidently against the rules.
Never realized it was such a big deal.
I consider '40s & '50s trucks done tastefully without billit, candy tangerine paint and big wheels as traditional in appearance as they come.
Yes, I prefer suspensions that drive well and ride comfortably for long distances .
As long as they are hidden, who cares?

If the rules are strictly adhered to the majority of purely traditional cars would be slower, harsher riding and short trip cars at best.
I'v owned a couple and thru experience know this to be true.
That being said, I love this site snd visit it several times a day.
It would be a shame to make it so exclusive that it becomes obsolete with young talent going elsewhere to show their talents.
Moderation means some tolerance should exist also.
I'm not leaving but my build threads might be coming to an end.
    Not my choice

I wonder if the traditionalists in the 70`s disliked the replacing the Hemis and nailheads with the 350`s as much as now with replacing the 350`s with diesel engines and LS motors. And in another ten years that will be old news. Like I said before, Traditional has changed a lot in most people`s eyes since the 50`s. Most people think they were ugly and take off the parts of that era to fit the traditional look of the 21st century. I truly like the cars built back then, as ugly as they might seem today, that is why I like this forum. To see long lost hot rods and customs emerge from there tomb to be resurrected. Then people modify them to fit the modern era which looses my interest. Maybe I`m one of the few, but the post and watch count on these threads is pretty high. Then they taper off.

My 56 chevy rear end is hooked to original 36 Ford spring hangers all stick welded in 1960
I can ask and post about that

Stock 1938 Ford front axle with unsplit whishbones
Meets trad criteria and I can post about it

    Disc brakes?
My choice and unless it's a general suspension question I don't post about it

    My motor is a 79 350 and looks like a 350
So I'm not posting pics of it now
I can ask general sbc questions but nothing about the RPM air gap or one wire alternator
    It's not that hard
