Motion Pictures Scrap Drives of WWII...

    One guy reportedly sailed all around south Fla. removing cannons from old wrecks, removing the easiest way of finding the Galleons. Some say the drives were more for Civilian morale than the actual results.

    Just seeing all of those pedal cars getting ready to be melted just kills me.A couple of those Art Deco ones would look great in my collection.

    Indeed. It's pretty well known at this point that Britain's "Saucepans to Spitfires" slogan wasn't true--the quality of the metal they got was only good for making...new saucepans.

    Still, morale building is itself a worthwhile goal when there's a big job to do.
