I want to like them but with 3 different kits that are poor quality 70f100,amc gremlin, and 68 Camaro. If amt and revell could collaborate and come out with kits that’d be awesome
I had the Gremlin in the early 70s when it was new.... I believe I turned that one into a glue bomb... Bought the 68 Camaro Z/28 kit like 10 years ago and I'm still sitting on it....
There's a new project in town. The second half of AMT's Double '25 T kit. I thought I had trimmed things enough to lower it and use regular rims and tires. Guess not, so it'll be basically a stocker.
That's a 32 Roadster chassis I was saving to build a 1/8th scale 27 T Roadster. It got repurposed, and lengthened . I saw that purple one a few months after I started this wrecker. It really fired me up to get back on it, but circumstances at the time meant I didn't touch it. Great to see it again, thanks.
First model I remember building with dad was a red dragster (probably around 1962 or so). Then we did a blue one. I found the latest version of both kits and built them with my current skill set. Smooth paint, AlClad II chrome, etc. Then I bought another red one and did it straight out of the box. No reshaping radius rods, no paint....nothing but glue and a knife. Think dad was smiling down the whole time. SPark
Hey LM, Nice model and work. It looks like the Isky U-Fab early, record setting dragster. The dragster is better known as the Cook and Bedwell FED. The reconstruction of the famed record setter is a big hit all over So Cal. I was able to see it in person at the Price Transfer Lions Dragstrip Museum set up days and on the main display floor during the June 2017 event. It was located near where the old Lions Dragstrip movies were playing on the huge wall monitor. Jnaki Nice overall model work. Your workplace is pretty neat. Very envious...when I work on some little models, they are put away in a couple of drawers and the counter is kept clean as per instructions by we all know who... happy wife...etc.
On the bench ... MPC Big Rig Rod 1978 issue Got the body,fenders and interior bucket only. Modified an AMT Model A frame for it. Tan styrene AMT Forty Ford front and rear axles. Front axle got narrowed. Rear axle got narrowed and a Model A quick change added. AMT Model A grill got modified. New spring perch made. New firewall and visor made. Styrene added to fender openings and on the bottom of the running boards. Extended a Model A hood and side panels. Working on the Forty Ford flattie..
No, it's not my work, but it is my crappy photo. I was the judge for the host car club award at the model car contest Saturday, during NSRA's SE Nats at Tampa. Said crappy photo can't do justice at all to this cool little 1/24th scale model roadster. It was built by Tim Kolawkiewicz (jeez, I hope I got his name spelled correctly) of Ft Myers, FL. It started out as a Bugatti GP kit but was heavily modified / scratched into an American, oval track-ish inspired hot rod with V8 power and a front drive blower. The level of detail was amazing, which unfortunately can't be seen in the photo. If I ever see more images of it, I'll try to post them. It was a jewel of a build. Later, Gary
Finished a quickie hemi '34 truck that I pieced together. Also an in progress of a '39 Chevy delivery "bag model". I sprayed it with rattle-can Duplicolor gloss black engine paint that had a hard time laying down. Wet sanded with 2000 and polished and can't believe how clear it came out. The reflection is the ceiling light 5 feet above. Was gonna do a quickie but now I guess I have to commit to it.
a fellow club member found it in a local antique store. says he gave a whole $3.00 for it. I kinda wanna restore it, but its so cool as is.
Wow, what a page full of coolness! The two Long John dragsters above are bitchin' - especially the figure painting on the one. I've got to admire the full on old school approach on the other. That big scale stake body T is an exercise in ambition! The Bugatti speedster is really impressive, what scale is that?...and that little salt racer is just packed with details. The 3D printed Frenzel SC is a literal piece of work, and the gold Fury is just plain cool. Thanks!
