Great pics, is the GOLDEN COMMANDO Plymouth a HEMI or a WEDGE motor?

    Thanks,
    Pete L.

  3. First Super Tricks I ever saw were at Indy, 1972, on John Lingenfelter's 69 rag top.
The picture has to be 1972 or newer. Tri 5's didn't run Super Stock until then.
I keep telling LB this, but he seems to think this place is year /model only, being the only requirement.
Many posts were removed from the Junior Stock thread because of 70's light weight wheels.
If I was a moderator, they'd all be gone too, including those ugly-a** fake spindle mounts.

Hoodlums can only follow the rules so long;)
I hope LB stays around, we'll yank his chain when needed.

  9. I wouldn't be sure they ever did.
This is a picture of a Nostalgia Super Stock car, built in the early 90's by Mr Bill Banks who passed away shortly thereafter . It ran NSS in the early days of the NMCA. Not sure about the Todd Motors connection.Might be just a friend of the builder.
I believe Chris Casperson's Performance Years Pontiac Parts was the actually sponsor of this car.

Got a Bunch from Bangkok Dean.
While most of them are not TRUE SS cars they are the top few classes that were then sent over to A/FX or SS later on when the rules changed.

Thanks, Guffey. Trivial, perhaps, but another Parkersburg native was also an early Hemi user, Paul Goldsmith.

Sometimes I wonder why this form of drag racing was so very popular.
I really find this era just to have something very magical about it. Each car had it's own name and sometimes I never knew what the drivers name was until much later.

The drivers also seemed but more colorful and they each were a bit of a car-actor.

Jungle Jim was the Best Showmen back in those day's by far and he really knew how to put on a show for the fans. Jungle Pam was a very big part of the show for also!
