  4. used some plumbers strap, bolted to the part and screwed to the saw horse. it was strong enough to hold it rigid yet once it was filler primed on the face side, i could twist it over so i could paint the back side. DSCF0004 2.JPG DSCF0005 2.JPG

my rig for painting wheels. mostly made fore wire wheels, they are a bitch to paint. this rig runs at 5 rpm. you can thin the paint all you want so it melts into the bottom coat, and will never run, no dry spots, no orange peel, no skill required for a perfect job every time. bad news is its one at a time. good news is it also can be used to check the wheel for true. pull a pin, lift up the arbor and easily take off the belt and spin it by hand to watch it wobble! i have also used it for other small parts, really anything you want to spend time to mount it will come out perfect with no skill IMG_1217.JPG IMG_1218.JPG IMG_1219.JPG IMG_1221.jpg IMG_1220.JPG

  6. to prime an A coupe i cut a piece of uni-strut to fit under the top boards, then bolted a couple eye bolts to the strut and hooked a chain to the trolleys . it was balanced so i could tilt it to prime the under side. DSCF0004.JPG

  11. That's pretty slick!
You could easily stick a stub out the other end and make it get 2 at a time ?

i am almost at the bottom of a gallon of epoxy [1 to 1mix] and am into my second gallon of filler primer [4 to 1mix] , including all the rest of the body parts.......

    were they dipped?

you got that right. although i am waiting to get the tailgate back from the guru, who is riveting the hinges back on after i primed it..........it was supposed to get done while the gc waited......going on a week..............i should have just done it myself but the gc wanted him to do it...........

Very nice. Switch out the pulleys to run faster and voila! you've got a rim polishing fixture.

  15. My redneck rotisserie for priming all sides of my frame at once. Engine stand w/simple angle brackets slid into the frame horns up front....a long piece of 1" pipe clamped on and rolling on a saw horse in back. Worked really well!

  16. Woof! Thanks to all who shared. Car is blown apart, sanded waiting for weather, got to be done for the Jalopy Showdown and time is running out. After this thread, I think I can get it done!
    Thanks again!

  18. i had painted all the edges of the windshield frame after i had primed it. i then assembled the glass and the upper hinge, trimmed the bedding tape. i then wet sanded it smooth and once dried i taped off the glass. i bolted the hinge to my paint rack in the position it sits on the car. i was able to "open" the window to get a final coat on hinge area. after the paint dries and before removing it from the rack i will install the outer seal.
no chance of scratching the paint when installing the glass if the paint is still in the can................;) DSCF0005.JPG DSCF0004.JPG

  19. I stood my 9" housing on end and screwed it to a large square board. A single wire to the ceiling helps steady it.

  20. painting two colors. first, prep for paint, i decided to paint the whole thing black first. DSCF0008 2.JPG DSCF0001 2.JPG
i taped off all the holes and covered the inside to keep any dust/dirt/sand still stuck in the nooks and crannies from getting in the out side paint.

  22. the next day i sanded the areas that were to get the other color. i then cleaned it and used a plastic "fine line" tape on all the edges to be taped off. then i papered and taped all the parts that were to remain black. DSCF0001.JPG
