Interesting that the '55 Plymouth grille has become sorta popular for use in mid-'50s Fords. This is the 3rd one I've seen this week (the others were in '52-54s), and I think it looks really nice. I don't remember that this was a common swap back then, but it really works well.

Another example of the evolution of Kustomizing is Jerry Quesnel. His '49 Merc was perhaps the first ever chopped (Sam Barris).

By the mid-fifties, Quesnel was sporting around in this very mild, near factory Ford.

"It's the latest. It's the greatest! The Mashed Potatoes!"

    "And the beat goes on..."

A couple of great photos from the Junior Conway Photo Collection at Kustomrama...

This one is of Herb Conway and his '54 Merc. Herb dove them low!

And this one is of Herb's '50 Ford that he sold to his younger brother (Junior) in order to buy the Merc.
(We all know what became of this one!) Note the side trim drawn on the photo with a ball-point pen.

EDIT: Just for comparison....(note side trim.)

Don't care for the mags but I do like the narrow whitewalls on chrome wheels.

That is a BEAUTIFULLY customized Ford but the chop pretty much takes it out of the "mild" category. Not trying to be rude.

The side trim and flared skirts finish this one off perfectly!
