Google the picture, it leads to a pinterest post that says that is the first Cobra and the woman was Carroll Shelby's secretary

I stand corrected. I was not familiar with this configuration.

    Hello,
Angie Dickenson, Anne Francis/Honey West both good looking actresses, but the fore mentioned photo was found on Google search as Carroll Shelby's first Cobra. Also, in 2009, there was a photo spread on the Cobra and this good looking model posing with that white Cobra in the JalopyJournal/HAMB.

    MYSTERY SOLVED...

The model with the Cobra does look like a cross between those two famous 60s actresses.

Another site said she was Carroll Shelby's secretary...so much for Google search.

    "Some info from CarrollShelby.com

April 1962 - CSX 2000, the first Cobra, is painted a pearlescent yellow by Dean Jeffries and shipped to the New York Auto Show where it appears in the Ford display.

May 1962 - Shelby offers test drives to the automotive press. CSX 2001 (the 2nd Cobra) is shipped from England (minus drivetrain) to New York and prepared by Ed Hugus in Pittsburgh. CSX 2002 is air freighted to Los Angeles and built into the first competition Cobra.

June 1962 - Production is slow as Shelby-American wrestles with start-up problems due to the AC chassis requires extensive engineering. CSX 2000 is repainted a different color each time a different magazine test drives it, giving the appearance of many cars in production."

He is marking the tire with a white grease marker because the parking meter has expired. I saw this quite a bit when I was a little kid. Notice that there is both a 1939 Texas license plate and also an Australian plate.

10 years ago when I lived in Claremont, CA the cops were marking cars with chalk and timing them. There was no meters, and the merchants wanted turnover. They even timed the cars in a small public lot off the main drag.

Rootie, is there any info on this photo? I don't recognize either the car or the driver.

    Thanks!
