I'v been following all of the postings you have put up and I am impressed by them and your knowledge. Thanks for sharing and adding to this great site.
That's a six! (E/A). Who is it? That pic shows why ladder bars on altereds gave way to the less harsh, more tuneable 4-link... ...and wheelie bars.
J.Ukrop posted a nice tribute to Paul Hatton who has passed on. Paul was a painter extraordinaire who turns out was also a Drag Racer See: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ver-sapphire-remembering-paul-hatton.1106483/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=25823 This is the first and probably the only 1958 Ford Wagon altered ever LOL See more of the same car in the Modified Production thread here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/modified-production.348502/page-46
The differences in the two iterations of Pure Hell - SBC vs hemi - are stark. Buggy spring vs coilovers, weight bar on the hemi front end, injector / blower size, etc. The more I see of these old racers the more I admire them and realize how easy we racers have it now due in part to all the experimentation that preceded us.
The A/CA2 (purpleish) car above... Am I not seeing something..? I only see one small tube (1-5/8" or 1-3/4") tube as THE frame rail..? The engine is well supported, but ahead of the firewall doesn't seem to be very well supported. Everything is bolted to that one single tube. And no, the triangular engine mount isn't much of a "frame" support. Mike
Now that you pointed that out, it reminds me of Eddie Hills experiment where the engine is not just supported but becomes a big part of the total chassis rigidity
Lemme get this straight, there’s a car in the photo right? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
