{ VINTAGE TIN }

Discussion in 'The Antiquated' started by Ron Funkhouser, May 2, 2018.

  1. { I LOVE TIN!} Most of the coolest stuff made before 1965 , was usually made of { TIN } The Toys, beer and soda cans. Then there were the tin signs, auto polishes, old oil cans etc. etc. etc. What Cool stuff do you have? :) Thanks Ron.... 20161025_153119.jpg 493.jpg 2594.jpg 713.jpg 712.jpg 20160915_222343.jpg

    Great idea for a thread, Ron. That Prince Albert can really brought back some childhood memories. When I was in grade school, my buddies and I used to call the local mom & pop store, Donaldson's, almost daily.

    Me: This is Mr. Smith. Do you have Prince Albert in the can?
    Donaldson's: Why, yes we do.
    Me: Well then, let him out!! (hang up)

    They just never seemed to catch on and we laughed ourselves silly!:)

  3. That's funny! We did the phone pranks as a kid also. As is your refrigerator running? Well yes. Then you better go catch it! And then laugh like crazy:D
    (A STORY) My grandad's garage was so COOL. I remember it was fun looking at all the junk he had hanging in it. Every wall and ceiling was covered with old stuff. When a friend or neighbor needed anything they went to him. I've done the same. Lol I'm posting here, because the walls are covered in mostly old TIN junk too:confused:. Ron...

    Refrigerator running? That's funny, too! I guess kids are the same everywhere. Like the garage decorations, too.

    Here's a tin sign my wife's grandmother was throwing out when she sold her house. Not sure what else she got rid of before I managed to get this. Its about 4 ft wide and in really good shape.

    .................I do remember that smell, Ron. That's crazy isn't it! Don't know if it was the packaging or the tin itself or the lead-based paint that we all played with for hours back then.:eek:

    I am 53 and my parents asked that I get my 400 beer cans, collected during my youth, out of my old closet. This is one of them. Probably from the mid 70s. 20180527_151422.jpg

  27. A vintage tin Coke container.
    Notice you could get six for 25 cents. The container is an original. The bottles of Cokes aren't. I guess that you took the empties back to the store and traded them for new ones. 20181026_182518.jpeg
