What a great thread, thanks for all the pics. When I was a kid in the 60s the 2 brothers across the street ran a gasser style Falcon and it was pretty cool to see them on Thursday evenings blast that thing up and down the street a few times getting ready for their weekend racing at Lions. Every time one of these gasser threads starts I hope to see a picture of their car, of course I wasn't smart enough to take one either. At the other end of our little neighborhood was the AA fuel car, Butters and Gerard, but it was the Worley Brothers Falcon that I remember best.

I am surprised more pickup bodies were not used. I think they were awesome.

I’ve done some reading about this little Ranchero. Quite the machine! 427 super high compression. If I’m not mistaken it did 200 mph back in the late 60s!!! Nucking Futz!!!!

Ranchero has 445 inch FE, 850 QF carb on Victor Yates/FE Power intake, C6 with 4200 convertor, 9 inch,4:86 spool (4:30 Trac Loc Street gear), 10.5 Hoosiers. Was built as a street car, but lately been running with the Southern GBO7pic2.jpg Outlaw Gasser bunch. Great bunch of guys, lots of fun. 6.70s/80s, 1.49 60 ft, 101 mph.

After I read your post I had to do some looking around myself, 200 mph seems pretty fantastic. I did find where it ran 11.70s in 1966 at Lions but can't find much other than that. If I'm not mistake AA fuel altered's were on both sides of 200 mph in 1969.

He was invited to the Micky Thompson 200 mph drag race in 1965. That’s where I saw the 200mph speed. If he ran that fast or not I guess I don’t know for sure. It be cool to find out tho!?

  20. Ya know I’m starting to think the site needs to loosen up the rules on drag cars..the 60’s were an amazing time for production vehicles of all types. Is there a HAMB site for stuff like that?

I'm going out on a limb and saying no, he did not run that fast. The Thompson 200 meet was a gathering of top fuel rails that ran 200 mph in '65.
