Here are a couple of scans of about 300 pix that one of my pops buddys from Dewey, Oklahoma let me borrow this past weekend. Alot of them are from MOKAN when they first started racing there. He wrote on the backs of the pix also (thank goodness). I will try to get them scanned in the next couple of weeks, but here is a handful of teaser pix. I will try to edit them with what is on the backs of the photos. Oh yea, if my spelling is kinda' bad, sorry.

See the price of gas at that Derby station...???? Never again...

The caption on the pic of the rpu...your Dad or your Pop's buddy's Dad...???

No, on the Chevy coop. it looks like a Chevy grille shell to me...a Deuce is more rounded...

    Great pics, sodbuster...

Thats my dad's original Roadster p/u that he paid $35 dollars for and had to have his older brother drive it home when he was around 12 or 14 years old. I think that is the story behind it.

Great pics sodbuster can't wait to see the rest. My first trip to the Kan was in the early 80's to watch my buddy Taco run Joe Williams bonded ****** digger. At the drags last year it was just like I had never left(except for the beautiful surface). Carl sure could teach those Not Hardly Racing Anymore track owners what racing is all about. Can't wait for this year. I wonder if I can find some of that 28cent gas to get there.

Love the photos, brings back old memories. I raced at Mokan right after it opened in early to mid sixties. I drove a crosley powered Scotty Fenn built dragster. It went a whopping 80 something mph. Love the wheelie bar on your dads car.

For the "youngsters" reading this...the price posted on that Derby sign is NOT $2.89 per gallon...it is (was) twenty-eight point nine cents per gallon...got you a quarter of a tank of gas for less than one dollar...and a tankful for less than $5.00!!!

$35.00 eh? Guess no one wanted a RPU in blustery Kansas?

Man alive SB, that brings back memories. Mo-Kan was the second place I got to go see drags, after OKC at the fairgrounds. Totally cool!! Can;t wait until the HAMB drags there this August!!

Cool pics!!!! Really glad to see the one with your dad and the trophy.

I've been hearing stories about that for years.

Hope to see you at the Knucklebusters show in Lawerence.

Sleep? Heck, I had to go meet a fellow "HAMBer" in town at some place named after "Owls". I will try to get more scanned this evening.
