I know right??? I take my racecars up to my kids schools and teach a math/science and racecars class. Its fun to do and I get to see the kids start to think about math differently. Learned a few things too- the term 'fireproof underwear' is universally funny, its neat when the high school geometry teacher goes 'huh, never would have thought of that' after I diagram the three link rear and the forces, and the school superintendent will jump 2.7 feet out of his chair when I fire up a 680hp open header modified outside his window
This impressionable high schooler was scarred for life after some of the local drag racers put on an approved exhibition in front of the school about 1971 or 1972, a fuel funny car tends to stick in ones mind at that age. Mostly burnouts and short blasts but enough to set the stage for never having a spare dollar for life, wasn't but two or three years and I had built my first drag car.
Yes he will be with me. I will just be carrying a 22 magnum revolver with me. No place to put the Colt after I get there. I could carry it but it would pull my shorts down and nobody wants to see that.
"but it would pull my shorts down and nobody wants to see that. " Amen to that Enloe! Still dealing with the stomach problem 8 weeks and no definitive answer! Have fun and take plenty of pictures Racer X Will blow there minds! KK
Thanks enloe. I see enough bare ass at work everyday I for sure don't want to see any when I'm on vacation. Made it safely just waiting for the gate to open at 7am.
Go get’um Brian! Best of luck for the event. Bring pictures to lunch next time. (New venue-Buckets Pub on Lathrop & 21st.) Jim

This weekend we are just tuning the car. It's a good idea to have a couple nitro guys around on the first start up. Roger aka radar lechtenburg and a few crew guys from the nitro dragster will be present on the start up. One guys job is to have his hand on the fuel shut off at all times it's running. Another guy will be getting exhaust temps. Another will be in the car working the Bruno brake and monitoring oil pressure. I will work the barrel valve and air bleed. I will also set the timing. The temp gun will be used on the zoomies. We will change out nozzles to get the temps all even. The nitro thing is cool but respect has to be given to it especially on the first fire ups. I might cackle the car Saturday if all goes well.
We have a go pro. My son down loaded a ap to my phone. I can see on my phone exactly what the go pro is seeing. It helps in getting the correct angle.
Hell yeah, it's almost time to light those candles and make some noise! Sent from my SM-G920V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
We fired the car today on alcohol. We did it off the bottle. That way if anything goes wrong you just stop squirting fuel into the engine and it shut off. Simple. We verified the timing and oil pressure. The new missile pump was at 125lbs at idle. That may sound like alot but the dragster runs at 200. When we put it on the fuel pump it wouldn't pump fuel. This created a big mess. The new pump can't be rotated like the old one. We had to swap mag and pump positions do to the offset of the pump. They doth turn counter clockwise. This opened a big can of worms. The high low bracket needed to be removed. It was in the way. It will be repositioned next week. The passenger side oil cooler line is in the way of the mag cap screws. The lower mag support needs to be moved over now. We worked through it all in the heat. Its ready for nitro tomorrow.
