Ed Miller was one of the honorees at last weekend's NHRR in Bowling Green and told some stories about racing this car which he purchased from Arlen Vanke. Miller used it to win the 1967 World Finals (along with George Hurst's $10K bonus) in the debut season of the Super Stock category.

The big money dodge posted above is the old ramchargers car. It was the first car to get a late model hemi. It is currently being restored.

That's not the car. The ramchargers had more than one. Their first 64 was the mule car and the first to compete with a 426 hemi. Jim Poulson owns the car now. It's documented to be the first through Chrysler historical.

 

This is a great thread. I remember reading Super Stock and Drag Illustrated from this era and they managed to bring it to life with pictures (often night shots) and stories. It was an exciting time. Thanks Loudbang and all for putting this trip down memory lane together.

How bout it H.A.M.B.ers. Any one got a shot of “Monte Asti” Black 68-69 Buick, That prowled the Strips of Western Pennsylvania.? It was spectacular.
