Would somebody using a stock A axle and spring mind measuring your front sprin shackles for me? I am going to build my own. Also, what did you use to build them? On the mud trucks we ways 1/4" plate. Made these for my 40 Ford in 1975. Still working fine. All made using cold rolled mild steel. Plates are 3/8 inch thick. Make threaded portion longer to accomodate lockwasher. May also want to drill for a cotter pin. You could probably do the same idea. Also made brass bushings. No squeaking and don't disintigrate like rubber. You can now buy sinterized bronze bushings which are even better.

A search didn't bring up anything. But the shackles pictured above are real close to what I have in mind, other than I'm just gonna angle cut my corners and bolts and safety wire and tap 1 side of the plate. The sintered bronze bushings are exactly what I have in mind, and cross drilling and through drilling my bolts and putting a grease zerk in the head so I can grease my bushings. I made the ones on my A also, but to tell you the truth they are a cheap catalog item .... can't believe I just said that, I must be getting old. Build on George!
1/4" plate is cheap (actually free as I have some already), and I don't pay for grade 8 bolts. I found some shackles I could buy for like $20 but they have rubber bushings, and I figure the bronze ones will probably cost me that. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using Tapatalk
You are right, I'm in the same place get some free steel and or bolts and build away. Sometimes, I get carried away and take hours to build something burning up many kilowatts of electric to make something that cost more to ship than to buy... but that is what Hot Roding is all about! that is why I said build on.
If you just like making stuff,sure,but really they are cheep to buy from a lot of places. I would think time better used on stuff you can't buy cheep or can't find,an make those .
