  9. Those are WW II up draft tank carbs on the Vulcan's Vicky. Those were Joe Reath's brain storm. The chain drive without a guard is a real safe situation.

Right. I surely don't have any idea if this setup works well or not, but I'm thinking of the off the wall engineering that went into this. And would that chain be like a chainsaw if it broke at about 8,000 rpm. The intake "tubes" and the holes in the cowl are a work of art though.

  17. Front mounted Harmon &Collins mag. Much easier to access than under the cowl.

Here is a shot of Jack at 17 in 1946, hard to believe he is the car owner, not the driver. The guy driving was his mentor Clarence Smith. Jack is 89 now, and still very sharp ! 2012-08-04 170301.jpg

The double blown olds in post 2786 was Todd Rawleighs innovation. For whatever reason he coined it
"hot beef special". This was about 1956 or 57 and claimed it dynoed at 700 on alcohol. At about this time
he sold the Olds and went to Chryslers. In about 59 he built a beautiful full bodied rail that slowly shed its panels for weight.
