Looking forward to seeing more of this one...But I got a kick out of the February, 1959 build "price list": Parts-$997.00 and Labor- $400 ...Lemmee see, in 2018's prices, that works out to be about $367, 211.15... That's a lotta money to put into a car ...!!!

Of course, I exaggerated today's prices but that build is gonna get pricey...!!!

I really like the side trim on the rendering. It kinda gives the car a Turnpike Cruiser feel.

I was getting off so much on the seats, I forgot to tell you how cool the whole project is.
So I did what I do when I see something cool that I know nothing about... looked on Ebay.
Surprise... A set of 6 of those seats, and a table for BIN of $3K. Sez they are in fantastic shape... oh well, it was a interesting thought. Always dug the wildest interiors in the little books.
OK, time to move along... then I see the item location.
    Well, ****..
    My hometown.....
About a mile from where I work...
    Down the street...
    ****...

Nope, I'm sticking with my T-bird seats for my Merc.
Anybody interested in these for 3K and need eyes on them?

Building a car from the little books, involvment of D. Starbird, the interior with those seats - it does not get any better.

If more Hambers get involved in this build, you could name it “The Hamba“...... just kidding.

The illustrations in the old magazine article make the car look like it is sectioned. Those artists are pretty tricky that way. At first I thought you were going to section your car, then I read the article. Haha

I'm really hoping that "flipping" the trim will give the same illusion in real life.
Probably won't be that dramatic though.

The article says they would flip the trim side to side (which would have it curve down at the beginning of the fin, not up over it) but the actual trim is "L" shaped. We are looking at other trim to see if we can find something that will work and have a similar appearance.

That could work. It would need modified at the "Y" to eliminate the upper spear.

We did discuss it. I'd love to be involved in a section, even just watching....
Maybe a future project but I'm staying as close as possible to Darryl's description on this one.
**** Collier's illustrations are bad *** though. Darryl said he liked working with ****, that he was a really nice guy.

There was blue '59 Ford like this on the cover of R&C in '59 or '60. Was one of my favorites at the time. Pretty good taste for a twelve year old.
