I have the Chevy truck parts books (similar to the one in your link) so I just looked for it in there.

If you are clever with building mechanical things, you can probably make your own, It would take a while to design it, though.

 

GM called it a suburban when it was pickup truck based, it was also called a carry all.

Rear check is correct on that model if you are looking at GM replacement parts.

There is a flat door check like this used on the rear emergency door on school buses. I believe they are generic and just screw in place. If I can find something, I'll post it.

 

They look like the engine hood supports on my 65 Corvair.. I could always measure mine if needed

 

This is for the rear door on a Blue Bird School Bus. Its called a door holder. Search buspartswarehouse.com Many different styles available.

Sometimes referred to as a butterfly bracket. Fords and Chevs around 1955 use the same bracket. Might try Ford sites, also.

 

For info, my 72 Suburbans had the same piece in the rear barn doors.
Don't judge me,,too hard.

 

To the O/P's credit, he did say cargo doors in his initial post. I believe all other doors on the van are considered passenger doors.

 

Trouble with most European CARS is that they might use one, but not two, mirror imaged parts to do that. Maybe larger cargo vans would have them. Personally, I didn't even know GM put them on their panel trucks; I figured the hinges took the brunt of stopping the doors from opening too far.

 

When dealing with US vendors, it would be best to refer to it as a "panel truck" rather than a "panel van", they have different meanings here.

I know where one of these panel trucks is, with that style doors on it, but it'll be a while before I could get access to it. Keep in touch, when I get a chance to go out there I can most likely get you a pair of original ones.

 

They actually have a used set! Pricing is bit steep... But that is me being Dutch I guess.

Panel truck parts are HARD to find, no one makes repo parts so your stuck with eBay or local online (if your stateside). That being said the parts aren’t cheap either.

By your description I’m assuming you have the barn doors not the clamshell.

 

Sorry, but that won't fit. Not long enough and the angle of the bracket is wrong.

I know. All the parts that are interchangeable with the pickup are available, but the panel truck specific ones are hard to find.

Which is a good thing in a way because a lot (read most) aftermarket parts are junky.......your much better off with stock good parts. They’re out there, I’m on my 3rd panel and finding parts isn’t that bad if your patient.

 

My hippie wife drives a school bus she turned into a camper. It’s a Thomas, and the back doors have those same door holders, or very similar. I bet they’d work.
