I am leaning towards the 56-57 Lincoln Premiere. I also like the standard Caddy sombrero. Premiere.jpg

    Lincoln gets my vote. Snowman

  3. It really depends on the car. On a late 50's custom I'd go with 53-55 Olds Fiestas, or even 56s. But on an early custom, sombreros for sure. The Lincolns are cool too.

Smack between the two beautiful covers you've shown (Lincoln and Caddy) is the '51 Buick Sombrero.

I believe this would have been much more popular, but Buick had the widest wheel in its day (6 1/2"), and the centers are just too deep for most Kustom applications.

  7. I love hubcaps!

That would be a tough call. I also like the Fiesta's. And don't forget the Studebaker caps...

    Or 1957 Plymouth:

Personal preference, everyone has their own likes And like Dan Hay mentioned build era also comes into play. Me personally, one of my favorites is the lower model (not Royal Lancer) 1959 Dodge.

I like those. The Pontiac had a similar cap as well.

I always liked the '57 Lincoln caps as well. I had a friend that liked them so much that he stole a set off of a new Lincoln while the owner was "necking" with his girlfriend at the local "Lovers' Lane".

That would be a $500 set of caps these days...

  15. I would throw out there Continental Mark II. You just never see them used because of rarity and price.

  17. I like the 57 Plymouth myself. They are afordable too. Payed less than 30 a set for the few sets I own. Nice but not mint by any means.

  18. Another popular one was that tall 1959 Dodge Lancer cover along with the 1957 Dodge
"knight head" Lancer cover. Plus some non factory aftermarket caps were pretty neat.

On some cars I like the plain 55 Olds standard full wheel cover.

Just curious...Are you looking for caps for a specific car?
    (Sure makes a difference!)

Those are 14" only aren't they? I had a hell of a time even finding 14" tires for the little ladies mini-van, and that was a couple of years ago. I really like 'em too, but what can you use them on these days?

  26. Yes 14" is all I know of. Probably why they are so affordable. I have them on my 61 Ranch Wagon, lowered with skirts. I have not looked into radials recently but bias tires are still to be had.

No one mentioned the 59 Pontiac 3 bars, 57,58 and 59 Olds(hard to use on any thing but stock Olds wheels) 54 Chryslers or 56/56 Dodge Lancers and the ever popular 57 DodgeLlancer 4 bars!

1950 Chrysler also has a beautiful cap, and you can cover the "Chrysler" crest.
