Several years ago , my less than novice enthusiast neighbor bought a very clean patina'd , barn find-ish 35 plymouth 2 door sedan. Had a feeling everything would go sideways, and him and his cousin didnt prove me wrong. Pulled front clip, bought the rustiest 73-74 nova drum brake car I've seen, cut it up with an axe. Then proceeded to cut the plymouth frame off at the firewall with a torch, without bracing the frame, and started adding the worn out nova sub. The cousin died , car sat. Today , he offered me the car for a sweet price. My questions are as follows; what years were these plymouth frames the same? Were all models the same wheelbase (coupe, sedan, 4 door, etc)? Were dodges in theses years the same? I believe they scrapped the front frame section, but havent got to inventory yet.

Neighbor has a 38 Dodge and a 40 Olds with the same front clip abortions.

Thank God the supply of 68+ Novas has dried up.

If all else fails, new 6"x2" RHS front frame rails with a dropped axle and transverse spring

    '35 & '36 Plymouth: 113in.
'35 & '36 Dodge: 116in. A long WB Dodge was available, but all Plymouths were the same. No other year Plymouths use the 113in WB.

Had a guy who specialized in chopping up decent cars and slapping "modern" GM front clips in them locally. Not one of them is still around here in driveable condition. Also loved to weld body sheet metal directly to the frame, no insulators, no mounts.

It is sad to think how many good cars / bodies have died a very honorless death over the past 30 years when some rube thought it would be easier to subframe this, or chassis swap that. I think I can count on one hand the number of chassis swaps I have seen over the years that were pulled off and executed well.

Good luck with your Plymouth. There are a few options out there for '35 and '36 model years.

They've been replaced by S-10 pickups. Of all things. Hey, lets make your old car ride like a mini-truck....... because the parts are cheap and available at any parts store.

rocknwrench, can you get a picture of what is left of the frame? I have a couple of Mopar frames that I thought were 37, but could possibly be 35 or 36. Also, where are you located?
