Event Coverage Ready Set Yay-Hoo ROLL CALL

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by porknbeaner, Jul 10, 2018.

  1. This year you're putting it on your pocket right? :D :D :D

I learned something this week that I never would have guessed. Neko who does our stickers is actually authorized by the Roth Family to practice Roth Style art. Its not the same for us as if The Man himself were working with us but it is a damned close second.

@Rocky you are not alone on last minute. The @raven fire the new mill in the roadster for the first time yesterday. We are tuning on the road. We should be head south around 1:00-2:00 today with any luck.

Those stickers are exclusive for people who run for the cup. Not to be the bearer of bad news. Its a badge that will add to the history of the car.

  3. Don't count the Raven out and if he can drive it he'll do it without a blower on pump gas. :D

The chances of me bringing the Cup back this year are pretty remote. Sadly, the little ‘34 lacks the firepower.

  6. To quote Mike "His stuff is always fast."

As far as I know we got JHO and the raven bringing meat this year, and neither one has a clean pass under their belt as of yet.

Then there is a certain '40 Ford that always says he is not going to win and actually lays down some pretty clean 12 -13 second passes as I recall. I just hope that someone who is not telling is the strong silent type. A little trash talking would be more fun for me but its not about me is it.

See you in Joplin my friend you and all the Pharos drive safe or drive crazy and be safe. ;)

I think @raven won with his new motor after firing it up 160 miles away from Mona. And tuning it on the way down with a 10.62 -edit- on his first or second pass.

@porknbeaner is still on the road but when he gets in I’m sure we’ll get the scoop. I think @jho was within a few 10ths last I checked.

Ahem, not to burst your bubble, but it was a 10.62 pass. Best Mile per hour was over 131. But JHO was not far behind with a 10.81 and 131. Really great racing going on.

Congrats to Raven and JHO! They both made some nice passes. I think I saw Jason run 10.81 twice. Getting it AND consistent. I was just happy to show Ben I could actually run a 12 on my Coker’s and still drive the 450 miles back home on them. Thanks again to everyone that makes this part of the event happen. The stickers this year were awesome!

@Russco can you post a photo of the sticker on your car? I was supposed to take some for Neko who made them but I completely forgot to :S

It’s not a very good picture, it’s raining here now but tell him thanks he did a fantastic job on them. If he wants a better pic let me know I can pull my car out later and get one. Again thank him for me the stickers are awesome! 2169862F-DC0D-47DD-AA73-B03943EB61BE.jpeg

  18. Russco someone asked me about what was going on with the cup probably around 4:00 PM or so. I said that JHO and the Raven we cutting a fat hawg in the ass but I was particularly impressed with the '40 Fords getting into the 12s. There was another man of Cup fame standing close by who said, "That blue ford hauls ass."

I'll post the winnings as soon as I format pics. This has been a busy morning here at the Pork n Bean Ranch.

  20. Enjoyed the meet too.

I meet lots of people at the track and some of them I see every year at the track. I may seem a little short my brain is in race mode at the track, a little scattered. Well more scattered than usual. Hope I was not short with you. ;)

The other option is the hotel parking lot, where you are best to plan your time wisely, a simple Hello could take an hour. :D

I wanted SOOOO bad to try to get into the 12's with my bike rack and bikes still on the back but I figured management along with many others would frown on it. I have a weird sense of humor....

  24. I had the tow bar in the GMC. We flat towed him home. I think next time around he is loosing the uni-lite for a magnetic and running two resistors ( one not hooked up obviously).

We both appreciated the help by the way, I just decided that we were holding up the racing and those coupe guys were getting hot.

  26. Tell you a story about that.

One year I was headed out and it was suggested that I needed to make the money run. I had the Pusher loaded, jack, tool box, etc. They raised a stink in the staging lanes (I had been running with my spare tire in the bed all day BTW). Ultimately a couple of the fellas came over and took my jack handle out and then they let me run. :D :D

Some antics are best left out of public view until they happen. LOL

JHO, when you get your couple little things worked out, we’ll enjoy seeing you take that FE to task slamming the gears all the way down the track. Oh and thank you for you insights and suggestions. You rock. Who else can make a brick move so fast?

Kansas City is opening a new quarter mile track pretty soon, and I think the casino near Omaha opened one recently.

Flip a coin for home field advantage for the grudge match?
