Great photos, Rootie. Thank you as always.

The first attached photo is one I can't quite figure out. It sure looks like someone is getting an STP jacket for setting fast time at a CRA race but I'm not recognizing the driver.

The second photo is a great one of Joie Ray in Pop Dreyer's big car at Salem, Indiana. This would likely be in the early 1950s.

And the third shot looks like Burt Foland in Jack London's Offy. At least I think that's who it is.

The last attached photo shows the front wheel drive Howard Keck Pennzoil Special arriving by air at Indianapolis in (I think) 1950. Mauri Rose was the driver and he had a real chance to win the race when the race ended early because of rain. That looks like mechanic Frank Coon (later of Traco engines) in the colorful shirt alongside the car.

  17. Supposed to be Pancho Villa. Wonder if those early drivers actually knew what they were doing.

This is either a late 1917 or 1918 Dodge Brothers roadster with a winter top. I only know of a very few winter top roadster to exist today.

I have no info on the sprint car pic and you're right that is Foland at San Jose circa 69 judging by the roll cage on the other car and I believe that is Jim Travers with the Pennzoil car. The colorful shirts and shades were kind of his trademark and Frank Coon was quite a bit taller. Keck had really deep pockets and didn't have any problem "airmailing" his cars around when needed.
