OK its in the bag, its done for another year (actually not some of the fellas stated wrenching again already). Now this is going to take a minute for you to read so bear with me please. This year there was an unofficial rule that you must make the last pass to win the cup. There were two cars that were the most obvious contenders for the cup, both made 10 second passes and both men were pretty serious about getting their name of the cup. Now here is the rub, the man who's car was consistently the fastest all day did not make the last pass. He tried but an electrical problem left him stranded. Actually there were several people who offered to push him down the track (only at the HAMB Drags right?) but it was determined that this was going to make a lot of sedan/coupes wait in the heat. So it was simply not going to happen. The man in question deferred to the other contender as he did not make the last pass. Now here is where things get interesting. Hang on to your hat. JHO who pushed his Blown FE powered A coupe into the 10s for the first time was the next in line and there were only a few tenths between the two. Jason stepped up. There was a discussion between the two (not heated I may add) and it was determined between the two (yes the cup actually belongs to the contenders not me) that this year the official winner of the Yay-Hoo Cup is @raven in his T framed small block not blown '27 T roadster. The official recorded time between the two is JHO 10.82 and raven 10.62. It was tight and I got an idea that there may very well be a grudge match looming on the horizon, we'll have to wait for that.
Now I would be remiss if I did not make this clear. A special thanks goes out to all who make this possible. Kim ( @jeepgirlie ) and Joelee for starters who are indispensable. @Ryan and Marcy and all the behind the scenes people that make this possible and of course the Pharos from St Jo. All the contenders: raven 200 miles Russco 450 miles 68 Jr Fueler 170 miles Mark Dalton 250 miles JHO 348 miles LHO 300 miles Dixie Fever 375 miles J Russel 420 miles Smitty 544 165 miles Tudor Toby 200 miles Gravey 275 miles FlamedAbone 1200 miles I got to mention this, I am damned proud to know all of you. Anyone who will leave their driveway, flog their car all day and head home after the fact is OK in my book. You all feel free to post pics here I no one will be upset about it.
Yes they did. I unintentionally did forget the beer chaser. But they handled it like pros anyway. Ya know I totally missed someone here. @Deuced Up! has been helping us out a lot. He is a man of many talents for sure. Thanks man and sorry for telling someone that your AC Cobra is a Healy.
The way you handled that is way cool. I hope to make it to the Hamb drags one day, when I'm grown up! It is on my bucket list. Gotta build a car first, haha
You jump a jet to my place I'll handle the rest my friend. A place to lay your head and a bowl of beans is always easy to come by. I am thins guy when it comes to doing life on a shoe string.
Those cars are two kinds of fast: The big thunder that rolls across the land. You hear it coming and it shakes everything as it passes you. Dark, dirty, gray clouds. Or, the thin white lightning that just zips by and before you know it you're saying "What was that? I didn't see that coming."
JHO you can cover those two tenths by fixing your shifting issue, but next year I’ll have new slicks...[emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Congratulations to Raven for the win. Congrats to everyone who drove to the track and beat the snot outta their car.
