Projects My Av8 Roadster Build

Sorry i havent updated this thread in a while. Work has just been crazy. But ive been plugging away a little at a time. This week i disassembled the chassis and got everything ready to go to the blasters. They wanted to much money so i bought me a little 40lb blast pot from harbor freight($75 with coupon) and some blasting sand from tractor supply. It worked great. Got almost everything done and primed but the frame which i will get done this weekend. Ill post more pics this weekend

Made some progress this week. Got all my parts blasted, epoxy primed and top coated with semi gloss acrylic enamel. I have a little body work to do on the frame then i get it painted and start assembling.

Jusr finished painting the frame. Came out pretty good. That acrylic enamel lays down pretty good.

I was just thinking about how much I look forward to the “take it apart, paint it, put it back together” part of my long term model A build.

Also I’m a fiend for shiny chassis shots so I’m double excited watching your progress

Got my quickchange built. I didnt take too many pictures of the assembly. But it wasnt as bad as i thought. Just time consuming. I think i put it together and took it apart a gajillion times. Started assembling the chassis today. Made some good progress but i have a ways to go

Dedided to change up the intake. Not sure if im gonna run these 94’s . Id really like a pair of new strombergs.

 

That needs some big logo 97’s. Going to look righteous in your roadster.

I tried to order some 97’s last week. Seems to be a national shortage?

 

Well that sucks. Use the 94s to get it done and then change later. I doubt the smile on your face as you drive down the road will care what the numbers are on the carb.

Some more progress made in the last week. Took some time off at work and spent most of it in the shop. Just about got all the brakes done and plumbed. I sent a few items to Cen-tex plating in Austin,tx. Dave and his crew do great work at a great price. Also managed to get the body cleaned up and shot in epoxy. The eastwood contour sct is makes the job alot easier. Anyway, Im not much of a story teller. Enjoy the pics.

Mounted these 39 tail lights. These are probably some of the best reprodcution tail lights ive ever seen. I dont believe they are made any more. I read they were too expensive to manufacture.

Man i havent decided yet. I have an early art deco pathfinder light. But i think i might just run a plate and frame mounted to the pan

They have a whitepowder coated body. I found them on ebay. Very nice set. They are not led and use an 1157 bulb.

 

Super sweet project! I like your attention to detail. Where did you find/acquire the 7-leaf rear spring from? When you changed to the QC rear end, did you change the bells too? It appears that you're not using the spring hangers adapted from the original 28-31 rear end? Or I just can't see the detail in the pictures.
