Event Coverage lime rock park vintage festival 2018

lime rock park's vintage festival is this weekend and i got a chance to crew for my friend Norm's Elva race car. i painted it a few years back and he runs quite well.
for those that have never been this is one of the most beautiful tracks around, nestled in a valley.

 

here is Norms car, 1961, he turned a 1.38 lap time and qualified well.

 

1929 Stutz, this car was amazing......just rumbled around the track....

 

Man, that is a sweet car and I love the color. HRP

 

tb I agree, when I moved to Red Hook I went to Lime Rock for the Vintage race always held on this weekend. It is amazing anyone who is into cars, history, scenery or just wants to picnic should go once.
Brother Mike will have his Willys in the show on Sunday. I'll be at Big Al's Toybox for the Dover Dragstrip Reunion on Sunday.

Been a long time since I saw a Elva Courier, there were two in Dallas TXU. In the late 50's

 

When I lived in Connecticut I spent many holiday weekends at Lime Rock camping and watching the races.

The Formula Atlantic cl*** was always a favorite along with the Formula Fords which always put on a great show.

One time I camped there with the family and they played the Doors music all night long and the next morning with a light rain coming down there were people all over the hillside asleep in sleeping bags.

My kids were only about 10 or 12 years old at the time but always told me that was the Best Camping trip we ever took.

Lime Rock Park is a beautiful place to spend a weekend for sure.

They were always playing pranks on Paul Newman years ago when he raced there with Bob Sharp Racing such has sending a State Police Officer in the paddock area with an arrest warrant for him for impersonating a race car driver!
True story.

1932 Ford 4Banger was installed in this type 37 Bugatti back in the 1930's an old ARCA road race car. Bob

 

Ford/Amilcar, another ARCA car that has a Riley 4port head on a B block. Bob

 

The Fred Willits car, guess it has left the USA with the painted on license plate. He used to drive this to Sunday church meetings on Long Island back in the 1970's.
