Also forgot the gauges are mounted in where the factory radio would go, keeps it's a smooth clean look

A lot has been done since returning from meltdown.
The rad and fan is in and wired, the car is sitting on its own weight right now (but will still need to go up a few more times.
Pretty much all of the wiring is done, the trans is in,
Once we put the car down, we realized there was not enough room in the wheel wells for the tires, so the cutting commenced, it looks rough now but I will be putting flares back on it and cleaning it up eventually. We have just reached the point where it's get everything important done first, and we'll worry about the look over the winter as there is a local event happening on September long weekend.

Let me clarify, what I mean by done, is done for this racing season so that I'll be able to get a few passes on it, over the winter we will be going over the car and tidying things up and making it look nice

So unfortunately I can't figure out how to upload a video if that's even possible but today was my first drive in the car!! Literally need three more things and it will be complete for this summer and ready to race on labour day weekend.

Over the winter it will be going back into the shop to clean things up and finish up the things we didn't get to

Haha I didn't even know I'd be driving it today! Still need some little tweaks with the brakes and timing but it's good! Small burnout because it just pushed the front tires on the concrete

So we spent all week thrashing to get the car ready for this weekend to make a couple of passes before next weekend which is when MAN GAS is the special guest at the local track. We installed competition engineering three way adjustable shocks, custom mounts in the front, finished the rear firewall, which is a piece of aluminum and then over top I decided to take the back seat cover and put it over the firewall, just to make it look different and maybe a bit better than just a piece of aluminum.

And so today I took the car out in the parking lot to do some laps and get a feel for it, especially since we changed the steering a bit by shortening the pitman arm, bending one of rods for clearance (also made steering a tad easier) and I decided to do a small hit and this happened...

The diff rocked and broke the driveshaft, so it looks like I won't even be ready now for the next weekend.
Oh well, it's all part of building a car

Just hoping that the shocks are not ruined and there's a small possibility of having a driveshaft by next weekend but if not, then the car will be put away for the winter and we will begin working on it again to clean it up and fix the little issues.

Not would do but did do however I didn't see any shims though lol. I dig your car and it looks like it must have hooked good to destroy the spring pads like that I would say that when you replace them I would brace them up to the axle tube from each end also make sure the u bolts are torqued properly when you reassemble keep up the good work kid

We are planning on putting betters pads on and bracing them, everything was tight and torqued.

We might have underestimated the power

  25. Was that a stock-ish drive shaft? I had one made up for my Ford, all Neapco and Spicer pieces, 3.5" tube. I'm only running a 1310 yoke at the rear, but not nearly as much HP as you have there. But get some real spring pads in there first! It would be a piece of cake if you have a Bridgeport handy.

A local shop has better pads on the shelf and we are going to brace it, the driveshaft was just one that we found in the shop that happened to work, no idea what it came from

Worked at it this week and got the new pads in and we gusseted them, shouldn't have any problems with them now! Also got a new chromoly driveshaft, so shouldn't have any issues!
First passes will be this weekend

Definitely gusset those spring pads....we folded ours up like origami.lol
We now run two on the top of the tubes, and two on the bottom for the springs to actually contact, them boxed them together with flat stock.Nothing short of a nuclear explosion will touch them now.We went with 1350 yikes and U joints too.Theyre not really much more money, but they’re great insurance.[emoji4]

  29. We used to make ours from square tube with a 3/16" wall. But your new ones will be fine. Go long $$ on a new 'shaft. Then the other weak links will rear their ugly heads...

Well there's the best pass the car made this weekend. I officially have a 12 second car! Also I have a found a love for big smokey burnouts which the car does with ease! Ran great all weekend, just had to make some subtle changes on Saturday to the fender because it rubbed and I need valve covers with an evap system because the motor would build to much pressure and pop the dipstick out.
