If Bobby has a 1956 ford Dana 44 rear (completely rebuilt with best parts) in his car with a 330cu in stroker motor, 4r70 trans, how many miles will he go before he calls a wrecker.?

First off - how old is Bobby? (That's a big factor in the equation!)

It will probably hold up fine since it is behind an automatic transmission and you are not using it on a regular basis on the drag strip.

If Bobby was in a Chevy then the answer would be 2 miles.

With my luck, my ride would need a push right back into the garage since it blew up as I backed it out ! ! !
Do not laugh, that actually happened !

Nothing funny about that. At least no tow charges.

How strong is a Dana 44 compared to a Ford 9"? You are less liable to break one with an automatic over a stick.

Thanks everyone for all the insight and playing along. I'm a lot more comfortable with rebuilding my stock rear now, didn't want to invest in it if it wasn't serviceable for me. Don't plan on racing, just long distance cruising, hopefully meet up with some of you along the way.

They put the Dana's in 4x4 trucks so its plenty strong. It should last you for a long, long time.
