Looking for any help or guidance for installing the front gl*** in my 41 coupe, I have the gl*** out, edge cleaned up and a new gasket. I tried installing it myself and had a really hard time keeping both pieces of gl*** in the new gasket and getting it started in the frame from the outside in. A few people have told me "it's easy" but then I ask for help and suddenly they're busy that day. The new gasket seems a little big, is this normal and do I install it as one unit and do I want to go from the outside in? any other info would be greatly appreciated. I had no luck finding any help on line or on youtube and none of the local auto gl*** installers here want anything to do with it. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Donny

If there is one near, you can go to a cl*** A motorhome dealer.

They often put back the front gl*** that pop out in the corners due to distortion of the box on the road.

Anyway, they do the 60$ job with a smile twice a year on my brother's motorhome.

Donny, if it's the same style as '46 Ford, with a rubber surround then are you sure it installs from the outside? Mine go in from the inside. Place a piece of cord, something like 1/8" is ok, in the channel, the outside one not the gl*** channel. I did one side at a time. Once you get the gl*** up near where you need it to be start with the top, push the gl*** in and pull the cord slowly, to let the inside of the gasket to slide out. You should have someone helping you and use plenty of liquid soap for lube. I know it sounds confusing but there was an article on gl*** installation, so let me look around and see if I can find it.

Donny, I found the article! It's on the Van Pelt website on the body drawings page. Vanpeltsales.com.

Donny, one more thing, use those plastic trim tools of you need to "nudge" the gl***. Don't be tempted to use a screwdriver, ask me how I know.

I thought I filled everything out accordingly ****, I don’t need you jumping down my throat and pointing out every time I didn’t give enough information, the first Tim I posted about this you acted all high and mighty and told me to go back and introduce myself and post it in the correct thread instead of saying hey man, just a heads up you’re doing it wrong you act like an ***hole about it. Sorry I’m new to this whole Internet forum thing, but thanks for looking out for my best interest.

Pretty sure it gets installed from the inside. http://www.pwchryslerclub.org/PlymouthManual_OCR.pdf Page 70 has the installation instructions. Had someone come out and install mine. Been a few years since it was done. He had a cord with handles that he put in the outside channel, had a suction cup pulling the gl*** from the inside, pulled the cord out and it popped right in. Looked easy. I don't remember though on the front gl*** if he did one side at a time or both at once.

Yeah well I guess we all need something to do later in life. I would hate it if that's all I had to bring to the table.....

Definitely installs from the inside, then you have to install the divider bar. Make sure you thread the rear view mirror into the little insert before you screw the inside divider piece to the outside piece. If you got the rubber from Steele, like I did, it will require extra sealant to make it watertight.
