I believe this is Mark Lane's '40 from Wichita. It was a beautiful addition to The World Gasser Championships in Denver. It also showed off at the Gateway Gasser Gathering in St. Louis. We need more photos of this beauty.

 

Anyone have any history on this one? It’s said to have run out of the Topeka Kansas area, from 1959-1964, and we assume from the Pontiac Indian on the door, it was Pontiac powered. If anyone has any other pics please share. It’s easy to spot, as it’s still were this same paint and logo to this day. Thanks!

 

....No, this one belongs to Dave Miller out of western PA (note PA vehicle inspection sticker - driver's side windshield)

 

Here's the car when I saw it about 5 years ago...when I see the owner I will ask if he still has it.

Thanks for correction. Did Dave build or buy? Any updates on Mark Lane's car?

 

Dave built the car from an old gasser found in a junkyard back in, I believe, late 70's...early 80's time frame. I forwarded this site to him. Hopefully he'll check-in and see the attention he's getting.

 

Your buddy won’t still own it, because my buddy Gil Muro/Hot Rod Ranch owns now, however, if your buddy has any history/ info about the cars past, thank you very much in advance for sharing.

I don't see him often...he is in South Dakota, and I am in Wisconsin... I often get an email with an update, or a joke, but nothing on the car...He has a comercial shop, and I always figured he would complete that project. When I was last there he had an early Hemi on an engine stand that was for that project...did your buddy see it advertised some where? My friend never had any more info on it that what was shown here...that it came from somewhere in Kansas.
Both cars that you see in my avatar are on the road...I am too old to start another project...hope your friend finishes the car. g-willys

Hey Loudbang....that's me!! (1964) Must be a valve spring or something. Happened a lot!

 

That's great. Looks like it was a bit chilly out that day.

 

Loudbang, It was early spring 1964, maybe March. The "T" sticker on the windshield in your photo is from the September 1963 NHRA NATIONALS in Indianapolis where we made it to the class final in D/Gas. Almost won that one!! Close but no cigar...
