    Yes that is Lya Lys, but I believe the car is the Surber Spl. which was entered for Shorty Cantlon but ended up being driven by Babe Stapp, 1940.

    John Malik’s Trendero, the gauges on the firewall ID it. Dave Puhl is in that photo, he and Malik built the full custom at Malik’s Trend Automotive body shop in Lyons, IL.

    tommyd is this the truck that Roger plate had in the late 70's at his speed shop in Muncie he had one painted blue about the same set up thanks troy

    Yes, I think you are right. The Times and UPI accounts are more reliable than the other stories of it being Cedars.
    Maybe he told me about it and I don't remember. I was thinking at the time about my first car. a white 58 Impala, that I had just gotten to drive for my junior year in high school. I probably was paying more attention to the car than the news that was going on.
    Anyway, I stand corrected.
