Well, I just made a deal on a '31 Ford coupe. I haven't even got the car home yet and I'm already building it in my head. Lol!

I don't want to chop it if I can avoid it simply because I'm a relatively large guy(6'4", 250lbs). This wouldn't be a big deal if it still had the fenders and boards, but it does not. I am trying to keep this project on the cheap, so buying fenders is not really in the plan.

I rarely see a fenderless car that is unchopped. So I am hoping you guys can help inspire me with some pics.

    Thanks

That's what I'm afraid of. I've only found 1 pic so far that looked decent. But, still not quite right.

  4. Channeled/ unchopped looks better but doesn't help in the space dept!

    6 foot 7 250 pounds here so I couldn't chop mine either.

  7. Pushing the radiator out a few inches, or better yet, extra ch***is length between the front axle and the cowl, can balance the proportions. Easy to photoshop to see what you think. Give it a reverse nose job on paper.

I think that if they're on deuce rails (as the above ones are) that helps with height and length proportions ..... as Chris said they could look goofy otherwise

I like 'em. On a stock ch***is they have a primitive look that's appealing, especially with a banger under the hood.
Can't have to much flash - needs to be subdued colors or old looking paint.

Dad left me his 30 coupe that's he dis***embled in '65, and while he'd turn over in the grave to hear I'm doing anything other than a full restoration, the first time it sees the road it will be fenderless, maybe a commercial grille shell, with a hopped up A or B motor. Surface rust and all. At one time it had '50 pontiac tail lights so it won't be too sacrilegious to re-install a set. ;)

Never understood why a guy would say they look goofy. This is mine. It doesn’t look goofy.

That is really close to what I had in my head. Even the color is quite similar.

As shown above, a 32 frame for an unchopped A coupe does wonders. And getting the stance low really helps too.

But this might not be accomplished on the cheap.

Speaking of cheap, A fenders aren't really expensive anymore.

Great looking coupe but I like mine chopped and plenty of room for a big man or woman. The key is to remove the back package shelf and loose the stock seat for a thinner one. Then chop it 4 or so inches and plenty of head room for big dude...

As far as stance, I don't wanna get too low. That is one of the reasons I liked fordf1trucknut's car so much.

What is a fair price for fenders? The last set I found in decent shape, owner wanted $1000. Way over budget. My goal is to finish the car for a total investment under 10k.

The package tray and seat are mia. So, I guess I'm half way there already. Lol!

Wasn't sure if I could chop it that much or not. I ***umed 2" would be ok. But I figured, that's a lot of h***le if I was only able to take out 2".

a few more...As has been said on here before there is lot more than a chop or no chop that gives a car good look or stance. Keep looking your coupe has a lot of potential. That silver car has a lot in common with my "vision". The stance is great. Those headers are exactly what I was thinking.

If these cars are considered looking goofy. Then that must mean...
