I found these guys rather daring in saving this old clapped out Fury.....the project has begun. I'll be following this, maybe some of you guys will be interested as well.....
Coldwar Motors is a hoot. Besides dealing with rusty 1950s orphan cars, they also do some pretty good work - check their videos for their work on the model A pickup.
I am interested in how this turns out. I may be able to steal some licks from these guys for my Sedan Delivery project. I have been contemplating if something along these lines would be idiotic to try, but time will tell.
^^^ agreed. Patching the 2 door floor would be far less work than splicing/welding two halves together. Either version still leaves the builder faced with having to replace the lower 2 dr. quarters (?) so that work isn't saved with the body splice.
I'm siding with the builder on this one. That Fury is so rusty it would take a decade of Sundays to repair all of that. Good save, of a car you don't see many of.
It was literally found in a pile of horse sh*t....the bottom of the Fury is gone....including the frame.....he pondered all the options before deciding this was his best course of action.....the guy is an awesome metal worker.....watch.....
Haha yes, Scott is a buddy of mine - glad to see him pop up on here. He's quite the guy and has a way of finding some real oddball stuff. Check out his videos on the only Chevy custom he landed.
Interesting save. A lot of work on a car that is not a crazy dollar value when done. By 1960 the Fury was becoming rather tame, No more 2 4bbl Hemi like the earlier ones. It will have a title problem forever. All the hidden numbers will from the 4 door.
Keep in mind that a 1960 Plymouth is a full unibody car, there is no separate frame. If it's that rotten underneath, it's not going to be as simple as patching up the floors. Plymouth never got an early Hemi, but a nice 1960 2 door hardtop model is a pricey car to buy. Pretty sure the tag is on the door pillar. There are no frame numbers on a 1960 Mopar.

Been following coldwar motors for years. He has his work cut out for him on that car, but he will make it decent when finished. His buddy Dean is a trip.
Wander how long its been since that last video was made or if they at least have it tacked somewhat back together or if its a stalled project or.???

College buddies father was a test driver, at Chrysler proving grounds. Absolutely loved going to visit Wilke. He had 2 ‘57 Fury’s in their modest collection Heard many a story as how the build quality was substandard and materials were crap. Good metal being used for war efforts??? They all looked fabulous, but under the big fins and chrome, was planned obsolescence. Eye brows on those fenders rotted away within 5 years. Guess Ole’ Virgil Exner had little to do with QC???
