that is the car and I believe it was on that run. It happened so fast, When I went over to ask them what was the ride like? the driver said "we didn't plan that". That car was on the back bumper!!
I could swear there was, or is a picture somewhere in here. Later, Matt.

That’s a legit Thunderbolt that later had it’s wheelbase altered to stay competitive.
It originally ran as the “Dixie Stripper”
Thunderbolt, driven by the late, great John Donilson. He was notorious throughout the southeast as a tough competitor, and a guy who could really row a 4 speed.

The car was destroyed in a crash that killed Mr Donilson, but his son Steve has completed a really nice replica of the car.

One of the factory backed cars that started life as a super stocker and was later sent to Ted Detar's shop in Wichita for the AWB conversion. Run out of the family's dealership the car was driven by Chuck's son Gary. The car still exists in this form after being restored with guidance from Gary Ostrich.

I was lucky to have grown up in the 60's because getting to watch all the match races over the years was priceless for me.
I know everyone loves whatever era they grew up in but for me the 60's really covered all.
Just the opinion of a 71 year man!

Here is our Facebook page on the TIGER II / BLITZER if anyone is interested in following the progress. "Tiger II - Blitzer AFX Chevelle" Hope to have it back on the track this next year. In time for the Funny Car Chaos event in Amarillo is the goal but may be a stretch. We will see how funding goes.
