Yep them and the wagons must have been the hot ticket in class back in the day seen quite a few of them and not many 2 doors.
^^^The black and white 57, Model 150 is/was a "Black Widow" car, and I think a recreation; see the 6 bolt wheels. Just odd to see a high bank type race car turned into a Stocker. Look at the building behind it also; definitely from modern times. The car number, "666", caught my eye. I think the Delivery is also a recreation; notice the modern security camera and fire alarm on the building. Both are very nice cars; I'll take the Delivery. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Don't know anything about the Blackwidow car other than it is from Texas, but the delivery was originally a Junior called the Ironhorse. Was from east coast somewhere. Thought I had some pictures Keith sent me of when it was raced but can not find them right now.
Is it just me or does anyone else note that the "fit and finish" qualities of most of the reconstituted Junior Stockers we see today are somewhat improved over the original 1960's appearance?
When we built our tribute, we contemplated going for a period look, but after all the body work, we just couldn't do it. It got shiny base-coat and a brighter color. We get some occasional flak for that, but it hasn't prevented us from having a load of fun with the car. Having George drive the car made the build worth every minute of work and dime spent, priceless.
I was going to mention the better paints today, and also the header coatings. I'm not sure what people are doing on the lettering. I doubt you will see much vinyl , but the patterns can be generated by computer now. The big thing is that nobody had enclosed trailers back then. Some of the Jr. Stockers were transported coast to coast on an open ramp truck , or a flat bed trailer. It didn't take long for some of them to get that weathered, patina-ed look.
All that, plus the fact that, when we started working out combinations with tri-five Chevys and similar units, they were basically considered simply "old cars." Now, those same boats are approaching the level of priceless. I can only guess what it would cost me to replicate or reproduce my '57 Corvette.
When I started bracket racing the local tracks had five brackets. Trophy...Street...Heavy...Pro...Super Pro. Some tracks still have those. Some have added others like High School. Some have condensed to two or three. The F 311, I think would be the car number. Gene.
"Pro" means he's running the car in Pro Bracket, Bracket Racing. The F311 is just his NHRA issued number (or possibly IHRA). What the "3" on the wing window is for, I have no idea, but it's in current NASCAR style (???). Maybe it's a remeberance thing for whoever was NASCAR number 3? The numbers NHRA used were just an assigned number sequence limited to a maximum of 4 numbers, but there are only so many numbers/racers, so a letter was also added a few years ago to make more numbers available; hard to get used to seeing that. Points are tallied to the number/racer. My old NHRA number was 6999, but it's been recycled to someone else. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Chuck it is not just Jr. Stk Ron Norman restored Jack Merkels 39 Willys and did a great job down to every detail. I knew the car when it first went out in 62. I think it looked better then.thats just my opinion. Pat
Will be open to correction, but.... Seems like the true "black widow" factory cars had 6 bolt wheels...I think NASCAR use was the reason.

The battle of the FOUR DOORS! 58 Pontiac VS 57 Ford, and it's a close race; try to find either one of them these days. No one wanted a four door back then, let alone now, although there are some new 4 doors that are really leading the way (think Dodge-"is that a Hemi?").
